SlicingMyWayThroughLife review of Golf Ascona

Very nice parkland golf course on the shores of lake Maggiore with proper "old school" layout where every club in the bag comes in play.H.S. Colt and C.H. Alison designed the first nine holes while later C.K. Cotton added the second nine holes. Holes 4,5,6,8,15 and 16 were my favorite and if you ask me, hole number 8 is one of the most beautiful parkland par 4's on the continent. Loved all the par 3 holes too. Nice finishing hole too with large green. Unfortunately fairways are full of weed grass which doesn't not affect the play but the course would sure look much better with proper fairways. The area obviously had some problems whit rain as some areas were quite wet. The greens were a bit soft but okay. Clubhouse is very nice and the pro-shop is very well stocked and you can find everything you need there. A must play if you are in the area.
