Golfclub Kitzbühel is considered by many as the best 9 hole golf course of Austria. The course is very close to the city center and you have views of Kitzbühel from several spots on the course. Golfclub Kitzbühel was initially designed in 1955 by former Harry Colt associate and renowned golf course architect John Morrison. In 2005 the course was redesigned by Max Lamberg. When you arrive at the club you can park your car in the basement garage of the A-Rosa hotel. The proshop is also located there. From the garage you can directly walk to the first tee of the course. The course starts with a medium length par 5. The 1st tee shot is actually quite difficult as there is out of bounds on the right and a water hazard on the left. The 2nd hole is a short par 4 with a burn crossing the fairway about 200 meters from the tee box. So you better lay up and even with a short club in your hands the approch shot will be tricky. The green is well guarded with a bunker in the front and a water hazard on the left. My favourite hole on the course is the par 4 4th hole. A good drive needs to challenge the fairway bunker on the right to have a good view of the green. Big hitters might benefit from the downhill sloping fairway and get quite close to the green. The mortals of us will have downhill approach shot into the green. The signature holes of the course are certainly the last two at Golfclub Kitzbühel. Both feature island greens. The 8th hole being a par 5 and the 9th hole being a par 3. It's certainly an exciting finish to your round. Overall I enjoyed playing Golfclub Kitzbühel. It is a nice walk in the park. You won't find any rough on the golf course but 7 out of 9 holes feature water hazards. The course is marginally hilly but still an easy walk. I can recommend playing Golfclub Kitzbühel.
