Inaugurated in 1909, the Fontainebleau golf course is one of the oldest in France.
Golf De Fontainebleau was created by Frenchman Julien CHANTEPIE, redesigned in 1920 by Tom SIMPSON, alongated and modified by Fred HAWTREE. It is located in the Fontainebleau forest, near the town, on the ancient imperial hunting grounds.
Due to its sandy ground, the ground is soft and is perfectly playable at any moment however bad the weather conditions may be.

There are many fine courses in France, but none better than Golf de Fontainebleau. I have played it many times over the years and always look forward to returning for another round. If you can get on you won’t be disappointed. The maintenance of this course is top notch. Greens really well defended and tree lines make pretty narrow fairways. Absolute joy to play. Clubhouse and food very traditional and very good.
