FatimaSapphireViajes review

Not only formed by high-end hotels, but also there are two outstanding golf courses (so far – a new one is being designed and will be ready by 2022). We are glad that Captain Vasillis C. Constantakopoulos got to see at least the opening of these two fantastic courses before he passed away on 2011. A comfortable 7-minute walk from the Westin Hotel to the stunning clubhouse at The Dunes Golf Course of Costa Navarino make a great start to the day. A statue of Captain Vasillis C. C is ready to welcome players from all over the world at the round-about in front of the club house. The views from the clubhouse are exceptional. The quality of the turf, the building and even the food served by a great trained staff make the whole experience special. The world-renowned golfer Bernhard Langer, former US Masters Champion and Ryder Cup Captain, is currently using his vast experience in the field to design spectacular and challenging golf courses of the highest standards. He has done once again a splendid job fitting 18 outstanding golf holes in this land. The name of the golf course says it all: Very elegant dunes form the roughs and fairways of a technical and beautiful, yet quite open course. Even though it is narrower than the other course at Costa Navarino; The Bay, it is still fairly wide. Wide enough for long hitters to have fun, but it also demands even the Scratch players to have a clear strategy in each hole. “The Dunes Golf Course is not as scenic as the Bay Course” we kept hearing from the very first day. Fair enough that the second one has views to the sea from at least twelve holes, but The Dunes is fantastic from the very first tee shot. A demanding par 4 welcomes every level of player, together with a quite big green and strategic sand traps well positioned through-out the fairway, just like the rest of the holes. The course definitely has it all in order to be beautiful. We were surprised with the comment just mentioned, because the second hole is already downhill into the Mediterranean Sea. We truly asked Nuno, the General Manager: “What do you mean no-scenic! This is stunning! ” It is easy to get distracted with these views and miss judge the distance to the bunkers. The eye will trick the player at some point, but the key factor to take into consideration in order to be successful in this course, is to have a clear idea of where to be positioned in order to attack the pins, or at least how to approach the center of the vast greens. A flag placed in the back of one of these massive and fairly quick greens, might change a hole completely by bringing into play big brakes. A hidden bunker might be waiting patiently in the back of a green. Therefore, sometimes a lay-up is the smart way to go. Overall, there are scenic downhill holes that allow the players to rip off a fun driver down the fairway. All the bunkers are going to be renovated. They have estimated an investment of 400.000€ for this purpose. Even though the turf dries pretty well on rainy days and the grass is in outstanding condition, holes like 15 are going to need to be redesign after the Summer. The reason is that this dog-leg left par 4 has had some issues in the green area, since the hot temperatures have damaged the green over the past hot seasons, making it very challenging for the green-keeper to maintain the quality of the rest of the holes. Therefore, the 15th green will be moved 40 meters to the right of where it is at the moment, and the 360-meter par 4 will look straighter than what it is at the moment. The last three holes, par 5 – 3 – 5 make the end of this round a great finish, from an enjoyable day at the resort for someone who would like to go to the amazing spa or beach afterwards, to a Professional Championship taken place in the facility. Service at the clubhouse is outstanding. The Flame restaurant is one of the highlights of the facility, since it offers great quality of Greek salads and proper steak after a beautiful sunset with part views to the ocean and golf course. Something special abot the restaurant is that steak dishes are expertly cooked from the finest quality locally sourced meat, complemented by the herbs and vegetables from the restaurant’s gardens. The challenging Dunes Golf Course and the scenic Bay Course, together with the upcoming new course that is being designed at the moment on top of a big hill, make the Peloponnese a great destination for families, couples, friends, big teams and even company events. Costa Navarino is ready to welcome everybody, since they have the facilities ready to do so. The most impressive thing? They keep it at such a low-key environment that the guest feels like he is the only one around.
