Espiche Golf near Lagos, Algarve is one of those golfcourse projects with big plans for huge real estate, that apparently didn't come off the ground. The ride to the clubhouse is through lanes all planed with real estate, the power boxes are already there for years waiting for some construction. But then, when you see the clubhouse on top of the hill, you all forget what you see, this is an award winning architectural design, modern and very functional. Now, the course : It's demanding, miss the fairway or the green and you probably need a new ball. Especially with the wind blowing probably on most of the days on these hills. The dense vegetation makes your ball almost impossible to find. In a magazine i have read that the new manager had a plan to make Espiche Golf a little bit more forgiveness, especially on the sides of the fairway. Nevertheless we had a fantastic day at Espiche, but my golf bag was a lot lighter!
