Took a break; drove up from the Algarve and played 2 rounds in April '18. What a difference! Less expensive (€62), no hassle with tee times and crowd-free. Around in 3 hours or so, instead of 5, and hardly saw another soul. Playing well this is a rewarding course, if not, it will be frustrating. Fairways are generous enough but care is needed as they are bordered by sandy waste/scrub which is difficult to play from. The holes are varied in length and shape, all interesting with links style undulations, turf and bunkering. All in delightful, calm and natural pine fringed surroundings. Easy walking but buggies if wanted. Found greens to be fair and true. Played off the yellow tees and this was sufficiently testing. Classy clubhouse and reception staff delightful - welcoming and helpful. Same in the bar. After a good round sitting in shade on the terrace with tea and one of those custard tarts was bliss. Maybe I was lucky as the weather was perfect and did not find any nasty spots. Make no mistake, this is a quality golfing establishment but very approachable and a welcome change from other more well known locations. Not the easiest place to reach but well worth the trouble. Up there with the very best, in my opinion. (Don't just take my word - is ranked something like 25th in Europe by golfing magazine).
