A lovely course close to the city of Madrid, which in 2011 hosted the European Tour Madrid Masters event. Arriving at the course, there is a long driveway along the front 9. It gives a nice impression of those first 9 holes as you can see across them. The clubhouse is open and clean. It als serves as a hotel lobby and has that air to it, and treatment at the reception desk was friendly. We only played the front 9 which it left a good impression on me. I have never played a links course but I guess this is what it must feel like. There are hardly any trees around the holes so you have a good view all over the hole. The fairways are wide and full of bunkers and also lined with, what they call "terreno sucio", sand patches that are not bunkers and hard to play from. The greens are here and there easy to reach, but that is where the problems start. Some are narrow, some are wide and most have multiple tiers so, making that 2 put is still great challenge even thought you got there "in regulation". Because the course is so wide and open, hitting it out of bounds is next to impossible, you will generally land on the adjacent holes. Te maintenance of the fairways looks good considering Madrid has had an exceptionally dry summer, especially compared to other fairways I've seen. The greens and tee boxes looks amazing "period". Unfortunately we did see some unrepaired pitch-marks on those greens and even a cigarette bud, now, I think that has more to do with the people playing the course. Bunkers give a good feel as well, soft clean sand creating beautiful splashes. In general, I enjoyed playing here and would love t go back again and play all 18 holes, with some wind to get more of a links feeling. I recommend this course.
