This very nice 9 holes course is located only 5 minutes from the A12 highway between Utrecht and Arnhem but when you are there it's like playing in a nice park. Sure on the 7th hole there is the railway but it doesn't really bother me. We decided to play there on a beautiful sunny September evening and the course was quite full. It didn't really bother us because everyone was having a pretty good pace. The first hole a dogleg right is trickier then it looks, to have a short approach you really need to fade your drive around the dogleg otherwise it's 150/160 meters to the green. I'm not so fond of this 2nd hole somehow I never play it well. 3 is a nice par 3 and 4 an other dogleg this time left with water on the left side. Hole 5 a long par 5 with a nice green with water on the right. 6 is the signature hole a par 3 half over water with a crazy pinposition when we played, totally on the right behind the bunker. Hole 7 is a nice par 4. Hole 8 normally a very long par 3 today only 140 meters. When we were finishing up hole 8 suddenly we saw two golfers walk from the green of 6 to the teebox of hole 9. They were teeing off when we got there. When we asked what was going on they said that play was very slow and that they were in a hurry and that's why they were going in front of us... I asked if this was normal then he asked if I was a member here, I responded no, then he said that's why we can go first and made some comment about our play that it was bad an other reason to go in front. This obviously ruined the nice evening for us and when we got to the clubhouse they were gone. The next day I called the club and the manager was really upset he apologized and said he would try to talk to the responsible member. Later I received a call from the manager and he told me he had confronted the guy and he admitted the events and was sorry. He also wrote an excuse email that was ok but still put also some of the blame with us, that we hit over the green and didn't shout Fore! He invited us to a round with him, not sure if I will take him up on that yet. An experience like this can totally ruin the hard work of lady at reception, the manager, the caterer and all the other hospitable members. Initially I was tempted to give Kromme Rijn a very low rating but then I realized that the course can't help it if a member is in a hurry and annoyed by all the greenfee players (that keep his contribution down!) and behaves badly. So compliments to the manager and hopefully the member realizes that this conduct is not only rude but lacks any form of normal behavior. After we finished the round we were welcomed very nicely by the caterer and had a nice 3 course dinner. That's a great deal (golf & dine) by the way 9 holes and dinner for € 42.
