One of the best golf courses in Spain for many many years, with plenty of reasons for that. It is a course anyone must play, knowing it is a competition course, so expect very fast greens, very well protected. First 9 holes is basically a narrow, short, hilly course, similar in some way to its neighbour the famois Valderrama. The second 9 are a little bit flater, with some wide open holes in the area around the big lake. You can make a mess out of allmost any hole, even from the fairway, so try to keep your game under control all the time. Training areas are great to practice. On top of being hilly, the views around and the cork oak as those of Valderrama makes it a lovely scenary. But there are many chances to play under windy conditions, being so close to the Straits of Gibraltar.
Gran Campo, por recorrido, mantenimiento, acogida y entorno. Un lujo.
Tremendous views. Similar to an inland links course. A pleasure to play.
Best features of this course are 1) the design is awesome. It is a classical design in which the course was adapted to the natural terrain, resulting that there is no hole similar to another. And each one has its traps, and in each hole you can take some risks seeking for a price. It is an amusing hilly course in which you can just wonder how in the world did all suit so well together to make a classical distribution of pars 3,4 and 5.2) it is a calmed place, so you will play without any hurry, not being disturbed by anybody. 3) the weather is owesome, not too hot, almost never too cold or windy, never rains for too long a period. This course has lately being reformed lately looking forward to competition design. Greens were raised up to make chipping harder, and they were buildt in speedy bermuda, which all together with their reduced size makes this course a very difficult challenge to almost any player.
Best features of this course are: 1) its size, that allows you to play it in different ways just by changing from one tee bars to another 2) it's a quite place, surrounded by pine forest. You will enjoy a calm round of golf without anybody bothering you 3) weather is awesome. Very rare having a cold or too windy day. Even in summer, afternooms are fine due to ocean breeze (from 17 to 21 hours) 4) some of the holes have great design, and some very nice views. It is a long course, so I sugest to elderly, beginners or players lacking of distance to play from closer tee bars than what they are used to. Despite of not being crowdy at all, the course has a great design so it is easy to maintain and is usually in good shape.
