Club de Golf Barcelona is located about half an hour drive from Barcelona city centre towards the beautiful Montserrat mountain which is also visible from a few holes. The golf course was designed by José Maria Olazábal and has hosted the 2007 Catalonia Ladies Masters tournament, an Ladies European Tour event. The terrain is quite undulated and has some very tricky holes which are not really friendly for those playing here for the first time as you will have plenty of shots into unknown. Namely holes 3,8 and 9. On the 3rd hole favour the middle of the fairway or right of the middle. The 8th is anyways a beast so good luck if your shot curve is from right to left. Well, the other side is not much better either as fairway is just about 942 cm wide and there is a lake all the way along the left side and trees, bushes and OB on the right side of this super narrow fairway. The Par-4 9th I don't quite get visually - I did not have a clue where to aim and what club to play here and I also don't really see a purpose of the bunkers at the end of the fairway... if you hit it straight and a bit too long into that bunker in front you are anyways in trouble as your shot to the green is blocked by the trees so there is actually no need for bunker there... it would be much more useful at the end left side of the fairway to catch the ball which are rolling from the sloped fairway towards the hazard. 120m straight tee shot will do here. The 50m plus long green is super cool but I don't imagine being on the wrong plato, depending on pin position as besides the length there is also a few meters of hight elevation... great stuff. I found the greens on Par-5's to be a bit overprotected and quite small, especially the 13th is surreal. Same goes for Par-4 15th hole. My favourite holes are: Par-3 5th. Par-4 6th to long and narrow green below. Then comes a stretch of 5 great holes starting with uphill and dogleg right Par-4 11th followed by downhill Par-4 12th hole - make sure you have enough club if the flag is on the upper level of the green. 13th hole is nice but tricky Par-5 followed by short but sweet Par-3 over the small hazard valley.  Short Par-4 15th is also nice dogleg right with well protected green. Finishing hole is also nice Par-4 to the uphill green where distance is the key. Maintenance could be better. Fairways were okay as were the greens but nothing special in those departments. Tee-boxes were just sanded while some bunkers were a literally a bit forgotten. Some parts of the course were unfortunately damaged by hogs. Pro-shop has all the necessities you might need for your round. As the course is quite hilly I recommend the golf cart if you are not used to walk hilly courses. I took a 3-wheel buggy and I had a blast with it.  .
