The Best Golf Hotspots in German

To help golfers to decide where to go, we decided to make life easier for them. As we know our site in and out, we often see beautiful features which are not yet known to our audience, like the map view and the filters. We defined a golfing hotspot as the following: "an area relatively close to an international airport with at least four or more golf clubs (18-holes or more) with an 8 or higher, all located close to each other". For a golfer, this would translate to easy access by plane and quite a few kick-ass courses to play without too much driving!

Golf Break to Cologne

Cologne is a very nice golf destination as the city is famous for its magnificent Cathedral (Kölner Dom) and its historic Old city (Altstadt), but also offers some really good and interesting golf clubs. Getting to Cologne is quite easy as it has an international airport called Köln Bonn Airport, but even Düsseldorf International Airport is pretty close. It would be obvious to stay in Cologne when visiting this area for a golf break and we would suggest playing the following golf courses:

If you want to design your own golf trip to the Cologne area, then we advice you to surf to all golf courses in and around Cologne. For us this area definitely is on top of our wishlist for a golf break to Germany.

Golf Break to Wiesbaden (close to Frankfurt am Main)

Wiesbaden is a spa town with mineral springs close to Frankfurt. There are quite some interesting monuments like the glass-domed Kurhaus (Spa House), elegant gardens and a funicular train from 1888 that uses water ballast to travel up and down the Neroberg hill. Wiesbaden is easily accessible from Frankfurt Airport. Wiesbaden might be an unknown golf destination, but there are quite some highly rated golf courses close by:

When you are interested in selecting Wiesbaden as your next golf break, then make sure to check out all the golf courses surrounding Wiesbaden!

Golf Break to Starnberg (close to Munich)

Starnberg is a small town in Bavaria, some 30 kilometres (19 miles) southwest of Munich. Starnberg lies at the north end of Lake Starnberg, in the heart of the 'Five Lakes Country'. Starnberg has the status of being the wealthiest town in Germany, which might be the reason why this area is quite packed with good golf courses. As Starnberg is located close to Munich,  getting to this area is fairly easy by using Munich International Airport.

After checking out these golf clubs, we understand that you might be willing to plan a golf break to the Munich area and Starnberg. If you want to check all the golf courses around Starnberg, then just follow the link.

Golf Break to Bad Griesbach

Bad Griesbach, also known as Bad Griesbach im Rottal,  is a town in the district of Passau in Bavaria. This area is mainly a hotspot because of Quellness & Golf Resort, which is Europe's largest golf resort with wellness and thermal baths. The resort has 5 courses and a short course. The courses are dotted around the resort, but the area in which they lie is quite large. This is also the reason why they are mentioned separately on Leading Courses.

We can definitely understand why you would want to head to this destination. There are some other nice courses in the area, so make sure to check all golf courses close to Bad Griesbach

Golf Break to Hamburg

Hamburg is a vibrant port city in northern Germany and is connected to the North Sea by the Elbe River. Hamburg is crossed by hundreds of canals and also contains large areas of parkland. Getting to Hamburg when visiting the city for a golf break is easy via Hamburg Airport. Around Hamburg you will find many good golf courses:

We definitely have put Hamburg on our to-do list based on the large amount of highly-rated golf courses. Falkenstein definitely should be on the list and make sure to play it when the heather is blooming, so around August. When planning a golf trip to this area, then inform yourself by checking all golf courses around Hamburg.

We hope you liked this article and that we have inspired you! We will continue to bring you similar articles for other countries as well. So stay tuned!
