The drive to the Island (about half an hour north of Dublin) is very nice. Especially the last part where the water is just right of the road and you see the clubhouse in the distance. The clubhouse itself is not very interesting but the golf course, designed in 1890, is extremely nice. We played it on an exceptional hot day in June and enjoyed ourselves tremendously.

Driving up to The Island GC is great. A winding road along an estuary with Malahide on the other coast. This club is great to play last as it is close to Dublin Airport (15 minutes).

This is one of my favourite courses worldwide. Such a beautiful combination of true golf, history and nature. Lovely setting. It is a must play for any golfer that is anywhere close to Dublin. I have no idea why this is not rated higher. For sure among the best in Ireland.
