Golf in Rome

Rome is the capital city of Italy and it is one of the most important tourist destinations of the world, due to the immensity of its archaeological and artistic treasures and its unique location as Rome was built on seven hills. Rome is located in the central-western side of the Italian Peninsula along the shores of the Tiber. The Vatican City is an independent country inside the city boundaries of Rome, the only example of a country within a city. Since Marco Simone Golf Club in Guidonia Montecelio (Rome) was selected as the host of the Ryder Cup 2022, Rome has attracted more interest as a new golf destination.

Golf in Rome
When thinking of Rome, golf might not be your first thought. Everyone visiting Rome will go there to see the major highlights like The Vatican, the Colosseum, Palatine Hill, Roman Forum, Sistine Chapel, Trevi Fountain and the Spanish Steps (besides many others). But golf is on the rise in Rome and its surroundings. There are 12 golf clubs located within close proximity of Rome making it ideal for a golf break. Well-known Rome golf courses are Circolo del Golf di Roma Acquasanta, Olgiata Golf Club and Marco Simone Golf & Country Club which will host the Ryder Cup 2022. Marco Simone Golf Club is currently being transformed to ensure the venue can accommodate the huge grandstands and hospitality structures required to accommodate the huge crowds in attendance at The 2022 Ryder Cup. The transformation is led by European Golf Design and co-designed with Tom Fazio II (son of the original architect of the Marco Simone Golf Club, Jim Fazio). Rome has a Mediterranean climate with cool, humid winters and warm, dry summers. The average annual temperature lies above 20°C (68 °F) during the day and 10°C (50 °F) at night. In the coldest month, January, the average temperature can drop to 12°C (54 °F) during the day and 3°C (37 °F) at night. In the warmest months, July and August, the average temperature can climb to 30°C (86 °F) during the day and 18°C (64 °F) at night. Just north of Rome close to Lago di Bracciano and Parco Naturale Regionale di Bracciano Martignano you will find two other good golf courses: Golf Nazionale and Terre Dei Consoli. Argentario Golf Resort & Spa - one of the best golf resorts near Rome - is also located North of Rome along the Orbetello Lagoon and is certainly worth a visit when planning a golfbreak to Rome. You can also stay at Argentario Golf Resort & Spa. The best Rome golf clubs are Circolo del Golf di Roma Acquasanta, Olgiata Golf Club, Marco Simone Golf & Country Club and Castelgandolfo Golf Club. All these golf courses are located within a radius of 22km of the city center of Rome.
