Many tourists skip Málaga while heading for the Costa del Sol, but Málaga is packed with history. Make sure to visit the Alcazaba, a Moorish castle built in the 11th century on a hill in the middle of the city. This old fort is the best-preserved of its kind in Spain. While you are there , make sure to have a look at the Roman Theater which is situated just beneath the Alcazaba. Málaga is great for a golf break as it has a Mediterranean climate and because it is one of the sunniest cities in Europe with an average of 300 days of sunshine per year. Málaga also has a relatively warm winter as the city is protected by the Malaga Mountains leading to average winter temperatures of around 13°C (55°F).
