One of the best golf courses in Spain for many many years, with plenty of reasons for that. It is a course anyone must play, knowing it is a competition course, so expect very fast greens, very well protected. First 9 holes is basically a narrow, short, hilly course, similar in some way to its neighbour the famois Valderrama. The second 9 are a little bit flater, with some wide open holes in the area around the big lake. You can make a mess out of allmost any hole, even from the fairway, so try to keep your game under control all the time. Training areas are great to practice. On top of being hilly, the views around and the cork oak as those of Valderrama makes it a lovely scenary. But there are many chances to play under windy conditions, being so close to the Straits of Gibraltar.
This club and course would be a nice secret surprise, if it had not been a classical well known course in Spanish golf since its origins as a popular sport. It has it all, and this is quite remarkable not being in a golf region. The course has a classical nice design, on a hill covered by oaks, over the northern Spanish flatlands. Most holes are very interesting and varied, and never saw the course in bad shape. It has a good combination of wide open holes and narrow ones, but no one is too tricky, all offering a fair contest to any player. It is a calmed place so no need to make a reservation. Views are very interesting and theclub is a good place to have lunch after the round. Then visit the town nearby to enjoy a very interesting day.
Entrepinos is the best golf course in this area (at least in a range of 100 km), but it is not a traditional golfing area so not many players around and not easy to keep a golf course in shape. Probably due to this reason it is a bit expensive compared to its quality, specially in weekends. Sometimes they have interesting offers for several green fees or season green fees. In occasions, this course could be not very fit, but generally is well preserved (the best in the area), and the design is quite classical and decent, profiting of being alongside the river Pisuerga for many holes. Other than that, it is a small and narrow course, quite flat and well decorated and protected by trees. There is a couple of tricky holes, but the other ones are fun and quite playable for any level player. In my opinion, together with being the most decent course around, the most attractive feature of this club is the membership: there is at least one pool everyday,365, and members are keen to let play any player coming from abroad, subject to accepting their rules (1 new ball per player, winner takes them all,2 worst players pay the drinks). Very friendly bunch, all levels, be ready to fast golf. It is also a quite course so it is played fluently and there is no need to make a tee reservation. Neither for the pool; just need to check the season start time.
