Golfclub und Golfanlage Velden

Wir spielen das erste Mal diesen Platz und sind bereits von der Lage und dem Ambiente begeistert. Herzlicher Empfang in der Rezeption, bestens gepflegte Fairways und Greens, Spielbahnen in die Natur am Berg hineingefügt, sehr guter Spielfluss, herrliche Aussichten in die Kärntner Bergwelt. Das Restaurant bietet freundlichen Service und gutes Essen. Wir kommen wieder!

Velden is a very nice undulated course between Villach and Klagenfurt. The terrain is quite hilly but playable. We played in a shot gun start and had to start on hole 4, together with hole 5 and one on the back nine the most hilly holes of the course... just tee it up and hit your drive on the right side in the rough and hopefully it will come back to the fairway.

Since we started in the middle of the course it's hard to remember the exact sequence and specific holes. Hole 10 was really nice with a tee-shot from the elevated tee-boxes down in to the valley. When we played here the course was quite wet and not much role but I can imagine that playing here in summer can be really difficult where do you place your shots and what is the effect of the hills and slopes. For the rest I definitely recommend a buggy just because it's more fun.

The people in the clubhouse were super friendly and the food was great, also Villach is a great place to stay quite close by.

This golf course is located in a very nice, natural and quiet surrounding. The holes are separated well from each other. The course is hilly and several times a big distance to walk between holes, so a golf cart is recommended. The fairways were pretty wet, so you lose distance, but no fear balls run off into the valley. It's a technical course with some nice holes. I believe this course is pretty difficult for less experienced golfers. The greens were definitely good, though I had sometimes problems to see the breaks very well. Probably due to the weather with hardly sunshine. The atmosphere is very good and the staff is very friendly!

Played here during the IGTM conference. Course was in good condition and this is probably a typical Austrian course. Hilly, proper maintenance and not too difficult.

Design is nice, but I started on hole 8 (shotgun) so difficult to judge how the course actually plays from 1 - 18. Quite a lot of sloped fairways, so you have to think where to place your drive. We played late in the season, so balls did not have much roll. I would say a buggy is recommended. Sometimes it was quite far to the next tee. Some tough holes, but inngeneral the course is pretty ok. I guess not very suitable for high handicap players. One little remark: there are quite some powerlines, so you see them on a lot of tees. That spoils the ambience, because the course is quite and is surrounded by nature.
