It requires a deal of commitment to reach the southern tip of the Mull of Kintyre to seek out the wonderful links of the Machrihanish Golf Club, but it is a journey that will never disappoint. Here lies one of the really great treasures of Scottish golf; a golf course laid out on classic links ground that Old Tom Morris was 'designed by the Almighty for playing golf'. Old Tom made what must have been a long and tiresome journey from St Andrews to lay out the course in 1879 and his work has comfortably stood the test of time ever since. What joy there is to stand on the first tee at Machrihanish with the carry to the fairway that on what many believe to be the finest opening hole in Scottish golf.

Ett gäng glada medelålders gentlemen lockades av ryktet om "världens bästa öppningshål", och viss är det speciellt, våga-vinn eller ligg på stranden/havet. En lite för tuff bana för oss i ett väder som visserligen var soligt men det blåste nog styv kuling i byarna. Lite för många siktpinnar, KÖP banguide. Men visst är den en upplevelse.

Great old style links golf course, without the intensive played feeling of the well known grand links courses closer by to Glasgow. A course which is still leaving the impression if a course which stands its ground in the modern era of mile long, sculpted holes.
Typische links course: 9 holes out,9 holes in.

alls fine del kyintyre machryanish offre uno spettavolo naturale magnifico. penso che chi ha giocato qui possa dire di coponoscere i links, campo talmente bello perchè immerso in un contesto magnifico. vale la pena sbarcati a prestwick di avventurarsi in quersta vacanza anche se lontana.
Fantastic old course in a beautiful location that gives it a great atmosphere. The first hole is justly renowned but there's much more to follow. Great variety of holes. Wind makes for lots of thinking about club selection whether to hit high or low fly it or run it in. Small homey friendly clubhouse. Practice area is minimalist as club was built before that was ever considered necessary.

9 LöcherThe 9 hole Pans Course nestles between the Championship Course and the neighbouring dairy fields. If anything it is slightly quieter that the 18 hole course and as well as hosting numerous ladies' competitions, is often favoured by members for a leisurely 9 holes. Some locals say that the smaller greens and shorter fairways provide an equal but different test of their golfing skills.
