Abu Dhabi Golf Club

Known for probably the most recognisable clubhouse in the world, a huge desert sand coloured spread eagle. This club is the host to the HSBC European Tour tournament in January. It's located just outside of Abu Dhabi about 15 minutes from AD Airport or 75 minutes from Dubai International Airport.

What stands out at Abu Dhabi Golf Club is the level of service. There seem to be staff every where ready to help you with every thing you can imagine. The rental clubs are brand new Callaway Rogues, looked like I was the first player who used them. Pyramids of balls at the huge driving range, free tees every where. The maintenance is also immaculate the rough is high but not high enough to lose your ball, the greens are true and quick, but not super quick yet since they are building up till the tournament in January 2020.

The course is very technical, from the white tees it is not super long but you really need to know where you are going. Most fairways are slightly tilted and there are plenty of bunkers around to swallow up your ball. It's amazing how they could construct such a green Oasis in this desert country.

The finish of the course is amazing with 15,16,17 and 18 around huge water hazards. Especially 18 can ruin your scorecard with a complicated drive and even more difficult approach shot. I really feel for the pro's trying to keep their score there...

The Westin Hotel a par 3 from the clubhouse is a perfect base for playing Abu Dhabi Golf Club and the other excellent courses in Abu Dhabi. Also for a team training this location is amazing next to the Championship course and the huge driving range the have a 9 holes course that's fully floodlit and can be played until 23:00. Great option in the warmer months to play at night and it's a proper course with a couple of par 5's.
