This year, we were able to publish Golfers’ Choice Rankings in 15 countries in total. Rankings are only published when they are reliable. That means that we want you - the golfer - to be able to plan your trip based on these rankings. Sure, opinions differ, but at least the Golfers' Choice Rankings should be a pretty good guideline of where to play your next round(s) of golf.
The rankings are created based on reviews provided by the Leading Courses community, making them the most transparent rankings in the world of golf. The Best 9-Holes Golf Clubs category is one of the "overall" categories of the Golfers' Choice Rankings, which means that this rating provides a good overall impression of a 9 holes golf club because all aspects a golf club is reviewed on have been taken into account. This ranking is available in The Netherlands and Belgium.
For the 3rd consecutive year, the winner of Best 9 Holes Golf Club in The Netherlands is The Links Valley. This golf course in the centre of The Netherlands is located in a prime position in the Veluwe, a forest-rich ridge of hills in the province of Gelderland. The position in this part of the country is so good, because it has perfect sandy soil.
However, it took almost 15 years of preparation, meeting the highest natural and environmental requirements, to build the golf course at this unique location. The Links Valley is situated on a 27-hectare site with a wealth of flora and fauna surrounded by pine forests and heathland and more than 20 metres difference in altitude, which is quite a lot for a Dutch golf course!
The terrain was not large enough for an 18-hole golf course. After a lot of hard thinking, a solution was found by using a brilliant idea from well-known historical golf course architect Tom Simpson: Building a reversible 9-hole course. A reversible course is a course that can be played in two directions. Golf course architect Frank Pont has translated this concept for Links Valley into a beautiful course design. Beautiful views, undulating greens and diversity in difficulty and length of the holes.
Despite the fact that there are only 9 greens, you can play 18 different holes. Each hole offers a completely different experience when you play the hole in the other direction. The result of the course design combined with the beautiful unspoilt nature and the always playable sandy soil makes Links Valley spectacular and distinctive in its kind.
Haras Golf Club is a remarkable nine-hole course set in the green and peaceful Ardennes countryside. It is a quite different golf club from most golf clubs in Belgium. It is very much inspired by the way neighbouring golf clubs in England, Scotland and Ireland are ran. At golf du Haras, there is no question of opening the club or the restaurant exclusively to "golfers" and the Haras golfer is not part of a select group of "Happy few" who only play golf for status and social appearance. People who join Haras have different objectives.
As part of a complete 2017 revamp the course has been lengthened by golf architect Dimitri van Hauwaert to 2651 meters upgrading the par to a full 36. The practice complex provides incomparable opportunities for golfers of all levels to perfect their short game skills on a nine-hole mini pitch and putt facility, putting and chipping greens surrounded by bunkers, a complete short hole with bunkers and their long game from a well-equipped and partly covered area With Toptracer Range. The course is located high on the Vesdre Massif overlooking Pepinster, ten minutes from Verviers, twenty-five from Liege and thirty minutes from Maastricht
Leading Courses users are particularly enthusiastic about the variation of the lay-out and the sympathetic character of the golf course and the people running it.
