The rating of a golf club or golf course is closely related to the price you pay for the green fee. Where do you get the most bang for your buck? This is the Best Value for Money category of the Golfers' Choice Ranking.

Golf Course Het Woold in The Netherlands tops the Best Value for Money category since 2013. Het Woold is just outside the top-10 of the overall Best Golf Clubs in The Netherlands category. But their green fee of 72,50 in high season is very reasonable and they offer unmatched hospitality as well. (Photo: Het Woold)

In golf, a game often associated with prestige, luxury and just being (very) expensive, value for money may not always be the first consideration that comes to mind. However, when it comes to visiting or playing a golf course, it's a factor that can greatly enhance your overall experience.

Why value for money is an important factor

First of all, it ensures that your investment (the green fee) aligns with the quality and facilities provided, giving you a sense of satisfaction. But it also makes golf courses more accessible and inclusive. Offering good value for money opens up the opportunity for a wider range of players from diverse backgrounds to enjoy the game, creating a stronger golfing community.

For golf clubs, it's important to understand that offering great value for money promotes repeat visits and positive word-of-mouth recommendations. When golfers feel they have received exceptional value, they are more likely to return to the same course or recommend it to others.

Another thing that's important is that great value for money, and also great hospitality, will influence the overal impression of the visitor. Because of that, they will be very likely to rate their overall experience - and in some cases even the golf course - a bit higher than they would have done when value for money wouldn't have been that good.
