GCSO Sokolov

Een heel gewone golfbaan, zoals er honderden zijn. Niet bijzonder goed, ook niet slecht. Hobbelige fairways. Greens zijn allemaal groot en redelijk snel. Waren net belucht en gezand. Golfbaan is aangelegd op het terrein van een vroegere kolenmijn. Grote hoogte verschillen daardoor soms verrassende afslagen Tweede negen heel veel bunkers. Hole 12 is een lastpost. Leuk clubhuis met langzame bediening. Fijn om er een keer te spelen op doorreis. Gaan er echter niet voor een tweede keer heen.

Mooie gevarieerde baan. Leuke hoogteverschillen en goed onderhouden greens. Echte aanrader in deze regio!

Also Sokolov GC is situated in the Karlovy Vary region. Arriving on a spacious parking lot in front of a large clubhouse. The reception staff and marshal very friendly to assist. Most staff spoke German and the bill could be paid in euro's. Practice facilities are available and large especially the putting green in front of the terrace. The course is undulated and because sometimes long distance to the next tee a golf-cart is recommended for seniors. The course was a bit dry so enough role when hitting it well, but the rough is high and difficult to find especially where water is available at hole 6 and 8. Greens are very large so ensure you know the pin positions otherwise a 25/30 m putt could be the result. You find 5 par 5's and 5 par 3's

The par 3's could be tricky as often the green is much lower as the tee-box, hole 2,5, and 11. If playing for the 1st time sometimes difficult to guess the direction as the green/pin can not be seen and also the flight in front of you. The restaurant facilities and terrace are large and not expensive. Keep it simple and everything will be oke.

Der Platz ist toll. Die Platzpflege war super trotz wochenlanger Trockenheit. Auf dem Fairway läuft man wie auf einem Teppich. Die Löcher sind interessant und abwechslungsreich. 35 € für ein Cart sind übertrieben. Außerdem bezahlt man 2000 Kronen über Leisurebreak und 1600 Kronen ohne.

Wer in schöner Natur golfen möchte ist hier falsch - dafür wird ein strategisch interessanter und abwechslungsreicher, sehr offener Golfplatz mit vielen Linkselementen geboten. Pragmatisch und modern präsentieren sich auch Range und Clubhaus. Ähnlichkeiten mit Weimarerland und Hufeisensee Halle sind offensichtlich - Architekt Städler steht für moderne, nicht zu komplizierte Plätze mit vielen Bunkern.
