Parcours en très mauvais état à cause de la sécheresse, fairway inexistant...

Malgré une remise de 15%, sur le greenfee, véritable arnaque surtout lorsque la personne de l’accueil prétend nous avoir envoyé un mail pour nous prévenir que nous n’avons jamais reçu...

Kauri Cliffs and Cape Kidnappers were the two golf courses that motivated me to go on a NZ golfing trip in the fist place. Boy was I happy to have done so! I have payed 10 courses on my trip and if I had to chose the only one to play again, it would come down to this one and Jacks Point, after 10 days, still can't decide which on would win though.

As you arrive, you undertake a short drive to the clubhouse (not like the 15 minute - 11km drive on private property like on Cape Kidnappers, the other course operated by the same owner) that seems modest on the outside, but is very nice and welcoming on the inside with a well stocked pro-shop, excellent locker rooms and a nice restaurant.

The rage in also quite fun, you shoot your golf balls down a very steep slope, surprisingly challenging to get any distance in windy conditions though.

The main prize is however, obviously the golf course itself, I loved it! The layout, if you ask me is spectacular! I like a bit of a challenge when I play, so I newer really like the flat courses, I much more enjoy a dynamic, up and down and over the valley and on the hill and over the bridge and down the slope kind of a layout, and Kauri Cliffs has it all and more, some of the par 5's were quite long, especially with the heavy wind we had on the day I played (I did play from the black tees though, so, yes, long...). I truly enjoyed the course, the front 9 keep you occupied with really fun layout, challenging rough, nice views and top course conditions. The back 9 add spectacular views of the ocean and countless little islands to the mix. I have walked and carried my clubs trough the course, however, would not necessarily recommend you to do so if you are not in a good physical condition, there are some uphill walks that could tire you out and take away from the experience.

All in all, the most fun I had on any course in the North Island of NZ and truly an experience to remember! If you are there, play the course!

Avec un green fee aussi cher (surtout que j’ai reçu un invitation le... lendemain), mes attentes étaient très très élevées. Mais elles ont été atteintes!

Le practice. Top. Le parcours. Genial (quelques fairways abîmés par une petite maladie et un ou 2 trous pas vraiment à leur place) mais le reste est top avec des vues spectaculaires. Surtout le par 3 du 7 ou encore 12-14. De vrais risk reward shots avec des roughs penalisant mais sinon des trous moins durs qu’attendus en apparence ce qui est top.

Il faut clairement une voiturette pour jouer le parcours (ce dont je ne suis pas fan) mais les ponts et vues compensent assez bien!

Bémol pour moi est l’accueil un peu froid au clubhouse et l’aspect super élitiste mais le parcours reste un must avec pour moi un parcours encore mieux que ca petite soeur de Cape Kidnappers.

Een golfbaan van absolute wereldklasse. Voor de tweede maal gespeeld met interval van 12 jaar en constante beoordeling. De baan slingert zich doorheen een golvend landschap richting oceaan. De 2e 9 hebben schitterende holes langsheen de zee. Brede fairways laten agressief spel mogelijk. Greens zijn groot en in perfect onderhoud. De signature hole is de 16, temptation genoemd. Een korte par 4 zeewaarts naar beneden die echter precies spel vereist.

Een topbaan die de reis waard is.

Très bel endroit le club est super, la vue est imprenable.
