Golf in Rome
When thinking of Rome, golf might not be your first thought. Everyone visiting Rome will go there to see the major highlights like The Vatican, the Colosseum, Palatine Hill, Roman Forum, Sistine Chapel, Trevi Fountain and the Spanish Steps (besides many others). But golf is on the rise in Rome and its surroundings.
There are 12 golf clubs located within close proximity of Rome making it ideal for a golf break. Well-known Rome golf courses are Circolo del Golf di Roma Acquasanta, Olgiata Golf Club and Marco Simone Golf & Country Club which will host the Ryder Cup 2022. Marco Simone Golf Club is currently being transformed to ensure the venue can accommodate the huge grandstands and hospitality structures required to accommodate the huge crowds in attendance at The 2022 Ryder Cup. The transformation is led by European Golf Design and co-designed with Tom Fazio II (son of the original architect of the Marco Simone Golf Club, Jim Fazio).
Rome has a Mediterranean climate with cool, humid winters and warm, dry summers. The average annual temperature lies above 20°C (68 °F) during the day and 10°C (50 °F) at night. In the coldest month, January, the average temperature can drop to 12°C (54 °F) during the day and 3°C (37 °F) at night. In the warmest months, July and August, the average temperature can climb to 30°C (86 °F) during the day and 18°C (64 °F) at night.
Just north of Rome close to Lago di Bracciano and Parco Naturale Regionale di Bracciano Martignano you will find two other good golf courses: Golf Nazionale and Terre Dei Consoli.
