Balnagask Golf Course

Recently played with a works colleague during the week, the first time both of us played the course. Green fees quite cheap, that said it is a municipal track. Considering the time of the year the condition of the course wasn’t too bad Although greens were substantially slow, the general condition of the rest of the course was pretty good.

The course itself is located close to the coast so always a windy tester game with views of the harbour and a stunning lighthouse in the backdrop.

Unfortunately we only played 12 holes and walked in, all the titleist’s we had with us were never to be seen again, not for the fact that we lost them, all pinched by crows so the round wasn’t that cheap after all.

If I were to go back and play again would only be with an arsenal of cheapo balls and certainly not a premium ball.

Uitzicht op zowel, stad, haven als zee. De blinde holes zijn leuk, gelukkig zijn de fairways breed. De greens lagen er perfect bij. £ 20 voor 18 holes op een baan die er zo mooi bij ligt, is echt value for money.

Geen clubhuis etc. Public golfbaan. Teeboxen, fairways en greens in perfecte staat. Mooie vergezichten. Lastig baan door vele blinde schoten. Niet erg lang. Zeker de moeite waard als je slechts £20 voor 18 holes betaald.

Fantastisk utsikt över Aberdeens hamn och en kuperad Links bana där det garanterat blåser och i vårt fall även regnade, ca 75% risk för det...

Public course med greenfee på 15 pund gör den till ett väldigt prisvärt alternativ till de dyra privatbanorna!

The 18 holes are located on a brilliant rolling spit of land that juts away from Aberdeen City Centre and has the most tumultuous and adventurous terrain. Located amidst a conservation area it has everything that is required for exciting, exhilarating and quirky links golf.

Although I came away a touch disappointed with Balnagask, home to Nigg Bay Golf Club, it still represents excellent value at just a few pence over £15 for a green-fee and the views of both the city harbour at one side and the Robert Stevenson-designed lighthouse and North Sea at the other end are not only unique but rather special.
