Fancourt - Golf Estate (Montagu/Outeniqua)

Peut être le plus "facile des 3 parcours de Fancourt.

Il est plus aisé de scorer à son niveau.

Toujours la qualité le très bien entretenu et la vue générale superbe.

Montagu est au Links de Fancourt le second vin du premier grand cru classé.

Très beau terrain parfaitement entretenu entouré de nombreux bâtiments.

Très grande affluence qui ne se ressent pas trop sur le parcours.

Also the next day we came back to play the Montagu course. Of course reception and assistance by all staff was identical as yesterday and very good. Again was in time to use the practice facilities and came prepared on the ist tee. Also the Montagu course was well maintained and is ranked within the top 10 of south African courses. The par 72 course is more difficult than the Outeniqua course. There is a creek running through the course which interferes with hole 3,6,7,10. Further there are big lakes on hole 8,9,13,17,18 and sometimes laying up advisable if not want too loose many balls. Maintenance of the course was also fine and sometimes it is the flight in front of you not adhering the etiquette roles with raking the bunkers and this is not the maintenance staff.

Again nice to play these high ranked South African courses but the green fee is a over the top, which is a pity.

ist für südafrikanische verhältnisse viel zu hoch. simola oder pinnacelpoint sind vom course gleichwertig oder noch etwas spektakulärer und kosten die hälfte. muss ich nicht noch mal spielen.

We played both the Montagu and Outeniqua but they're difficult to compare as it was raining quite hard when we played the Montagu (apparently it rains a lot in George and we noticed most buggies had rain jackets on them!). Both courses seem well maintained and were pleasant to play - not stunning courses such as Pezula though.

Fancourt is well organised for golf with good practice facilities and seems to aim at groups/package tours. The atmosphere was therefore efficient but quite impersonal. We probably wouldn't return here.
