About Royal Limburg Golf
Limburg Golf & Country Club was founded in 1966 by a group of golf aficionados, all based in Limburg, who were members of the golf club at Sart-Tilman. The municipal council of Houthalen made available a 65-hectare piece of land, which is partly situated in the Tenhaagdoornheide nature reserve and partly in pine forest. The founding members commissioned the British golf course architect, Fred Hawtree to design the new course and in April 1968 they were able to play their first 9 holes on their own course in Limburg. In 1970 another seven holes were added and two years later the 18-hole course was finally completed.

The fairways were very poor. Started well on the first holes but as we went on the fairways became. very dry and even disappeared. Too high a price for this course under. these conditions.

De fairways waren heel erg droog zodat plaatsen zelfs toe was gestaan. De greens zagen er wel prima uit.

Spelen op een Royal, daar kijk je naar uit. Teeboxen verdienen wat meer aandacht. Fairways slecht. Kaal, veel zand en kuilen was een afknapper. Bunkers waren ook niet om over naar huis te schrijven. This is a wonderful layout. Some great classic design holes with beautiful heather on many of them. Unfortunately when I played the course condition was not that good and the greens slow & inconsistent. But definitely one of the best courses in Belgium.

Wat heeft deze baan geleden onder de droogte. Daarnaast waren veel greens deze dag ook nog geprikt en gezand. Je ziet wel aan alles dat het een mooie baan kan zijn. Spijtig dat er gezien de omstandigheden geen reductie op de greenfeenprijs was (80 euro) Wellicht nog eens terugkomen als de baan er beter bij ligt.
