About The Old Course Golf Club - Dom Pedro Golf
In the heart of Vilamoura lies the Grande Dame of Algarve courses, The Old Course Golf Club. As one of the first-established layouts in the region, the Frank Pennink-design is well regarded throughout the golfing world. Although it is but a mere 20-minute drive from Faro Airport, the course finds itself situated amongst impressive pine trees and set out over gently undulating terrain. There can be no argument that, for all who are lucky enough to play here, this is a golf course that lives long in the memory. The modernisation programme preserved the challenge of this magnificent layout for future generations and raised the quality of The Old Course Golf Club to new heights. An attractive new clubhouse and the putting green adjacent were the finishing touches to this renovation in the final years of the last millennium and still add much to the golfer’s experience. In addition to raising the Oceanico Old Course to new heights of quality, an attractive new clubhouse and adjacent putting green were also built at that time. As with all Oceanico courses, environmental protection practices are strictly adhered to by means of detailed management systems in line with guidelines established by ISO 14001 standards, Green Globe and Committed to Green programmes. This is one of the courses in Portugal that will always stay in the memory of visiting golfers.

Toller Platz in toller Umgebung. Sehr gepflegt und an einen Löchern herausfordernd. Tolle Atmosphäre!

Great golf course.
Blijft een mooie baan, wel druk maar daar merk je niet veel van.
Mooie golfbaan qua lay out, clubhuis doet wat armoedig aan maar eten was prima en gastvrijheid ook. Bij boeken vernomen dat er onderhoud gepleegd werd en dat was te merken ook. Bijna alle fairways bruin met dood gras en veel modder plekken. (regenachtige periode tijdens mijn reis) denk dat er opnieuw ingezaaid moest worden. Daardoor plaatsen mits er een stukje gras was te vinden. Jammer. Baan erg leuk om te spelen met goede variatie in de holes. persoonlijk veel betere baan dan de Vale de Lobo banen. Preciesie nodig want de vele bomen zijn killing. Eenmaal bal tegen takken betekent kansloos verhaal. Verlies nemen en opnieuw slaan. Baan is goed te lopen ondanks wat hoogteverschillen. Greens ook hier onnederlands goed. Snel en tricky vergt veel gewenning. Twee keer gespeeld en niet verveeld.

Laten we beginnen met wat super goed was. De greens zijn echt geweldig. In mijn ogen precies zoals ze op een topbaan moeten zijn. Pakken, veel spin en prachtig snel en houden perfect lijn. Oefen green goed. Kwaliteit van eten ook goed. Ziet er verder netjes uit maar personeel is te plichtmatig. Fairways zijn vreselijk. Persoonlijk vind ik op een baan als de oldcourse mogen de ballen op de range wel klaar staan. Water in de buggy is een prachtige fles maar ze vullen de flessen zelf. Er is geen normale plek om te pitchen / chippen. Verder lastig maar leuke baan om te spelen. Twee keer gespeeld en de tweede ronde net op tijd binnen. Mega bui. Maar alles was ook snel weer droog.
