Sene Valley Golf Club

Geweldige gastvrijheid. Een paar holes met een fantastisch uitzicht op zee. De back-nine wint qua uitstraling. Maar ook de holes op de eerste negen bieden voldoende uitdaging. Baan is niet al te lang, zeker niet met de wat harde fairways gedurende de zomer. De club heeft de traditionele Britse gastvrijheid, zonder de jacket and tie etiquette. Een perfecte stop direct na de tunnel of ferry. Of nog een hele mooie laatste stop vlak voor de oversteek terug naar het vasteland. Aanrader!

Mooie uitdagende baan, zeker voor spelers van het platte-land. Hoogteverschillen en linksachtige fairways maken de baan spannend. Geen vaste starttijden, dat is natuurlijk een persoonlijke voorkeur, ik was er blij mee. De ontvangst was bijzonder hartelijk, dat gold ook voor alle spelers die we onderweg tegenkwamen, de Engelse gastvrijheid staat hoog in het vaandel en dat is fijn. Tel daarbij de prima onderhouden baan op en je wilt er zeker nog eens naar terug.

6 jaar eerder hier ook gespeeld. Als je s’ochtends op tijd uit Nederland wegrijdt kun je er om 9 uur al spelen. Altijd leuk om in Engeland te spelen. De sfeer is daar overwegend prima. Golf is een gentlemans sport en dat begrijpen ze daar ook. Een mooie afwisselende baan. Overigens zeer belabberd gespeeld. Zal zeker mijn beoordeling wat beïnvloed hebben.

Played here during the annual golftrip with friends, because the course is located very close to the Eurotunnel (just over 2 miles), which made it for us a comfortable ending to our journey. It’s a course in the ‘feel good’ category; wide fairways, nearly any roughs, most holes are straightforward designed, large greens (but challenging sometimes). We only played the first nine holes due to time restrictions from our side, but I would recommend playing the hole course if you can. The second nine are said to provide more and better views over the Channel (at the first nine the ocean is only sometimes visible at the background). Of the first nine, I liked holes 5 through 8 the most. Those were most widely laid out and characterized by some interesting height differences, which is always fun. The chap at the proshop was absolutely the most genuine friendly Englishman I have ever met and blessed with a good dosis of humor. Reward him and play Sene Valley if you are around! Don’t forget to take your own towels if you plan on taking a shower afterwards, as those are not provided by the club.

Nice challenging course. A bit dry like everywhere now in Europe. We were well received and played a nice round of golf and had a good cold drink afterwards.
