About The Australian Golf Club

The Australian Golf Club is a private Member’s Club located 6km from the heart of the Sydney CBD. Inaugurated in 1882 The Australian holds the honor of being the oldest golf club in the Commonwealth. The Jack Nicklaus Signature Design course was redeveloped in 2013, and has since hosted the Australian Open in 2014 & 2015.

The Australian Golfclub is een besloten ledenbaan. Als Europeaan kun je echter een verzoek tot introductie indienen om te spelen. Een aanrader. Zeldzaam mooie baan gelegen in Sydney. Na het inspelen op de DR (er is een North en een South DR - verzoek om op de South DR niet verder dan 150 meter te spelen gegeven de lengte) begint een route vanaf hole 1 (gelegen bij het clubhuis) waarin in een glooiend parklandschap de ene na de andere mooie hole wordt gespeeld. De greens en de opvolgende tee-boxen sluiten perfect aan. Omdat het een besloten ledenbaan is staat er geen bewegwijzering (de leden kennen de baan) maar dit is geen enkel probleem. Onderhoud van geboden, fairways en greens is perfect. Bunkers zijn zeer mooi en uitdagend geplaatst. Een golffeestje dus als je een introductie hebt weten te regelen.
