Good golf course gone bad!

I was really looking forward to play here again after a year or two since everybody was talking about improvements on maintenance side now the new owner took over this property... Well it's been actually quite a while since I played a golf course in such bad condition! :/ The only thing they have actually improved is they cut down the roughs so you can actually find a ball now if you are off the fairway. But the truth is everything else just got worse... the fairways are bad, full of wild grass and weed, tee-boxes are useless and some of them only have about 20% of grass on them, and bunkers are a disaster! The only way to get out of the green bunkers is to simply chip out as there is no way you can control the ball with open club face and hitting it through the sand as the club will just bounce and the ball will fly out like a rocket. Good thing about this mess is you can easily hit a fairway wood out of the fairway bunkers. Greens could potentially be okay but they are a bit too soft and slower than the traffic on Croatian borders in peak season.

Most of all this golf course needs some reseeding, fine sanding the greens, replacing the sand in the bunkers and a lot of sand on fairways each season so I really don't understand people / owners who tend to invest their money first into the cart paths which actually no-one cares about too much. Clubhouse is also being renovated and once it is finished it will have some potential.

The layout is really nice otherwise but it does not help you much if the goof course is in poor condition.

Baan nog steeds in ontwikkeling. Nieuw clubhuis bijna klaar en bijzonder mooi. In de baan hier en daar groot onderhoud. Tee boxes en fairways uitstekend waar je bal op het gras ligt. Greens uitdagend. Onderhoud is zeer goed en nauwkeurig met mooi aangeharkte bunkers en mooie scheiding tussen fairway en rough. Waterpartijen zijn uitdagend. Hier en daar moet je zuiver zijn maar vaak is het risk rewarded. Al met al een baan die je niet mag missen.

Good fun course to play. Now called “Riverside Golf Zagreb”. Excellent practice facilities and was in pretty good condition coming out of winter. If you have your clubs in Zagreb, play it!

New owner - really done / doing amazing job in upgrading course - from tee boxes, fairways and greens to roads and clubhouse - not there yet but 10 times better than before.

Baan heet tegenwoordig Riverside golf Zagreb, de baan is overgenomen door andere eigenaar. Er wordt volop gewerkt om de baan verder te verbeteren en het gaat er echt fantastisch uitzien. Je hebt weinig hinder van de werkzaamheden. Greens, fairways en tee-boxes zien er allemaal prima uit. Zowel voor de hoge als de lage handicaps valt hier genoeg te doen. Als lage handicapper kun je risico's nemen bij waterpartijen die je als hoge handicapper kunt omzeilen. Als je in de buurt ben een absolute aanrader.
