Golspie Golf Club

In potentie een hele leuke en gevarieerde baan; mooie holes langs het strand en in het bos tussen gele gors. Mooie uitzichten over zee en baai en landinwaarts. De greens waren goed van kwaliteit, de fairways niet en de tee’s al helemaal niet. Clubhuis heeft kraak noch smaak. We werden vriendelijk ontvangen en konden zo de baan in. Greenfee van £70 vinden wij overvraagd (denken dat club meelift op topper Royal Dornoch).

Mooie baan deels linksback deels bosbaan met prachtige vergezichten en mooie uitdagende par3 s.

Golspie may not be love at first sight but it is likely to be an everlasting relationship. James Braid has once again come up with the goods at this fun, and at times quirky, hybrid links course.

From the moment you play into the first green until the time you walk off the exceptional ninth you are in golfing heaven. It’s a stretch of golf that will truly delight. At times it is a rollercoaster ride with shades of two of my other favourite courses; Perranporth in Cornwall and Tenby in South Wales. The land, particularly on the holes that hug the coastline, is simply made for golfing.

A real hidden gem between Royal Dornoch and Brora. A seaside course neither dunes nor beach between the firth and the course. Later a bit from a heather and woodland course. Well worth a visit an my favourite course on this trip. Very warm welcome in a small clubhouse.

We played Royal Dornoch, Brora, Tain and Golspie and Golspie was the weakest of the four courses. Some good holes but also a few in the beginning that didn’t feel like links golf. The later holes were much better.
