Sand Golf Club

Sand presents itself as an "inland links course". In a way that's a contradiction in terms, since you won't get the wind, and with the current state of the fairways, you also miss some of the distinctive roll you find on a "seaside links". Having said that, Sand is still a very attractive course. Different from most, or all, other courses you will find in Scandinavia. It's truly a course of "link character" with undulated fairways, frequent (and deep) fairways bunkers, wasteland and high hills with equally high grass on. It's a fun course to play, where almost all holes feels like a fund challenge when you step up on the tee.

Very good practice facilities with grass-tees on driving range, plenty of chipping and putting areas, practice bunkers etc. Nice staff, and a nice welcoming, free score saver (a must for guests), and a modern, nice club house. There's also a hotel at the course, but at the same time the course is ca 20mins from Jönköping which offers more choices for hotels and restaurants. All in all I'd recommend you to play Sand, it's fun and different, and enjoyable even if the fairways right now aren't perfect.

Sand is an Arthur Hills design, and might be compared with Hills GK in Göteborg, as it was designed by the same architect.

Very nice facilities with a driving range not far from the first tee, and for the first time this week a practice on grass.

As often in Sweden this period of the year courses are fully booked. If you booked with 2 you're going to be paired with 2 other persons. I don't have a problem with that. In fact the experience here again was very enjoyable with members explaining about their course and showing you around. It was a treat.

The course has a bit of a rugged look. I really liked it. Some elements like some litte bunkers in very odd places where you never expect a ball, or the vulcano looking hill with a bunker on top on hole 2, reminded me of a Pete Dye design. It's very varying and the finishing hole is also really good. I believe we payed 590 SEK for this course, which I find good value for money.

Condition of the course is fine although some parts of the fairways had bad patches. Therefor it was placing on the fairways, and I never had to play from an odd lie, so no complaints.

We had a Swedish meal in the clubhouse and it was really good, and at a fair price.

I have played SAND on various occasions.. and although I have NOT played it the last few years.. my account of SAND is.. AS IT WAS.. ie FANTASTIC, possible including Hills in Goteborg the best NORDIC golf experiences I have had... SAND (pun not intended) blew me away.. an unbelievable links course in the middle of SWEDEN... every hole a crackerjack, wow Iam so lucky! actually the same happens at Hills... BUT not so strange same golf course designer... whatever, how it is now 2019... I do NOT know.. but try it and let me know!

Första anblicken, wov vilken spektakulär bana, Men efter två dagars spel är vi mycket nöjda med den spektakulär layouten. Många av bunkrarna är inte ens i spel. Tyvärr så hade det varit en mycket torr sommar och när vi kom (Början på september)så hade det regnat som attan så kvaliteten på bana var sådär. Mycket bra gästvänlighet i rest/shop. Boendet i ”herrgården” helt ok men ingen toa/dusch på rummetutan i korridor. Bra mat så alla i hela sällskapet 11 st var nöjda efter denna weekend.

En bana som är värd ett besök. Fina greener, lite tort och sönderbränt på övriga spelytor men det är många som lider av årets väder. Kommer att komma tillbaka.
