A resort course but in the jungle, well some holes were in the jungle. A very pretty course!

5 tee's between 4000-6700 yards so something for everybody. Very good condition overall especially the greens but due to recent rain some fairwyas were a bit wet.

I would love to play it again but 200 dollars is a lot... not sure it's worth that much money. It's an american resort, that may explain the hefty greenfee.

Amazing wildlife all around the course with at least 30 different colourful birds flying around.

Very nice golf course, with part in the middle of the rainforest and part on the seaside, very well maintain course with some challenging holes and beautifull scenary.

La Iguana Golf Course was recently voted the 2018 IAGTO ‘Sustainable Golf Course of the Year for Nature Protection’ due to its reforestation and naturalization projects. They boast at having more than 150 species of birds and local wildlife including monkeys and macaws on their 1,100-acre property as I can attest to. They use less chemicals by mostly relying on all-natural ingredients to maintain the course. They also use bio-degradable corn tees and are so committed to the environment that they are currently reseeding the entire golf course with ‘Zoyia’ that requires a lot less water and half the fertilizer. What is truly impressive is the entire 201-room Los Sueños Marriott Ocean & Golf Resort is carbon negative, which means that they actually remove more carbon CO2 from the atmosphere than they are responsible for creating. A mighty feat indeed and one that should be mimicked around the world.

The first 9 holes traverse through a valley in the rainforest where as hole 10 and 15 though 18 are open and out of the jungle. The course is tight but not as punishing as Cariari Country Club. It is also very lush due to the high humidity and the fact that they receive much more rain in this part of Costa Rica.

American architect Ted Robinson Jr. designed a course that is more natural featuring offering a good mix of short and long holes with huge variation on the size of the greens however the bunker sand is rather course.

One of the unique features here is that holes 3 and 5 share a long narrow green. The 4th is the #1 ranked hole on the course. A river runs down the right side then crosses over 2/3’s of the way down then circles the green. Too boot, it has a narrow fairway and one of the smallest greens on the course, so buyer beware.

After golf we sat down for lunch with Jose Quensada, who might be the most passionate and dedicated Director of Golf I have ever met. Six days a week he arrives at the golf course at 5am to alternately walk and play nine holes. Then he reports back to his staff on what needs to be fixed that day. He told us that “we try to set up the course as easy as possible so that our players can say afterward they had one of their best games not the worst. This way they want to come back”.

Golfbaan was mooi en goed onderhouden. de eerste 9 holes door de bossen de laatste 9 met af en tpoe uitzicht op zee. Toen wij er speelden was de baan overvol wat het speelplezier niet verhoogde. Wij betaalden voor twee personen inclusief verplicht buggy en een handschoen 450 dollar en dat vonden wij na het spelen van de baan het zeker niet waard. Een paar uitdagende holes maar ook veel recht toe recht aan.
