Bruntsfield Links Golfing Society

Vriendelijke leden die je graag het e.a. over de baan vertellen en je wegwijs maken rond de faciliteiten en in de baan. Onlangs zijn een aantal holes verbouwd, wat nog niet op alle gps apps is doorgekomen.

Bruntsfield Golf Club

It is the 4th oldest course in the world. Located 20 min east of Edinburgh. - 1761 (!)

They are going through some renovations. Working on tee boxes and getting a whole new 18th green. Taking the course to a whole new level. Invested over 1.200.000 pounds.

There are some trees and views to the ocean. Designed by the legends Willie Park Jnr, James Braid and Alister MacKenzie.

The views are gorgeous. Fife is seeing accross the pond.

The 18 holes course that was in this place before used to be an Open Qualifier. Since then, every single course has changed. 9 of them, have changed completely. The other 9 have only had minor details and changes such as bunkers.

Used to be “men’s only”, and has just recently opened for ladies as well. One of the few golf courses that have a range and practice area.

The new putting green is going to be locate just left of the club house. Courtesy coffee is included. The service is really welcoming.

There are three areas/lounges to sit and drink. One of them is really formal. This course, taken from an ordinary golf course, has been taken to a whole new level and quality.

Almost every bunker has been renovated in order to compete against the conqcrete of the bunkers. A new 10th Signature hole -145 yard long with a stunning view is being renovated.

They have 2 plastic swamps (purchased on amazon), in order to prevent the gooses from visiting. They are planting 300 trees more. Realistically, they will be settled by 2020.

Due date to reopen will be 31st May 2019.

These designers are some of the Top Architects in the world. MacKenzie has also worked at Royal Portrush. And will head towards Nairn and Royal Dornoch after this project.

Nairn, close to Inverness, is also going to change many of the bunkers.

The Bruntsfield Links is going to improve quite a lot. Nevertheless, the bunkers are going to be placed on landing areas. (Towards 230-250yards off the tee).

It is a course for members. But in the afternoon they are willing to work with Tour Operators like myself, from Sapphire Viajes- based in Madrid.

They might host the Scottish Open Qualifyier in the next 5 years.

Een golfclub vol historie en traditie. Een van de rechtstreekse afstammelingen van Musselburgh en de 4de oudste golfclub van de wereld.

The Secretary verwelkomde ons persoonlijk en gaf ons een rondleiding door het clubhuis. Gezellig Schots. Een uitvoerige bestudering van de prijzenkast is zeer de moeite waard. Hier zie en proef je de ware aard van geschiedenis, traditie en erkenning. Lunch is served in the dining room. Een volledige 4 gangen menu in klassiek Schotse stijl met een prachtig uitzicht over de wateren van Four. Zomaar met een spijkerbroek en polo mag je er niet eten. Jacket & tie word van je verwacht.

De proshop heeft alle benodigdheden voor elke golfer. Pal achter het clubhuis is tee no. 1 Je hoeft niet te zoeken naar de teebox voor de dames want die is er niet. Dames zijn welkom om van de blauwe tee te spelen. De tee box van de senioren.

De baan is een duidelijke parkbaan. De greens klein en compact en meestal goed beschermd met bunkers.

Hole 10 is mijn favoriet. Een 400 yards lange par 4 met met een dogleg naar links die langzaam naar beneden loopt. Een goed recht tee schot van ruim 200 meter is nodig om een vrij schot te hebben naar de kleine green die bescherm wordt door bomen en een beekje aan de linker kant en een vermakelijke bunker aan de rechterkant.

Met recht een zeer plezierige en uitdagende baan om te spelen. De leden zijn er open, warm en erg in je geïnteresseerd. Geen geschreeuw over de fairway maar rustig naar je toe komen lopen en je vertellen dat je wellicht de verkeerde hole loopt.
