Vallda Golf & Country Club

Trvlig men skall inte spelas om de blåser för mycket vi hade otur för de hade fyllt fairway med sand.

De greenkeeper vertelde me dat ze graag de EuropenTour willn hosten, dus met de ambities zit het wel goed. Het clubhuis is gezellig en het eten waard om er naar toe te gaan. De greenkeepers zijn committed to green! Als bewijs ligt er sedum op het dak van het clubhuis. De greens zijn stevig, maar eerlijk. De fairways voldoende breed. De teeboxen zijn mooi gescheiden van het pad met cortenstaal. Alleen de bunkers.. die hebben meer zand nodig. Te vaak zat er een harde kleiachtige laag 1 cm onder het oppervlak.

Links-karaktär, hårda fairways och greener, ruff med mycket sand. Underbar miljö och natur. Greener i toppskick. Allt är toppen, men man får betala lite högre greenfee.

Vallda GK is located about 30 minutes South of Göteborg. It's a Martin Hawtree design, and in general I am a fan of Hawtree designs.

The course is laid out on a very exposed flat piece of land, I'm sure it's a pretty though test when the wind blows here. There are just a few holes with elevation changes like the downhill par 3's 5 and 15th. Most people walk this course. Noticeably busy on an Monday where we had to wait quite a bit during the round as we only played as a 2 ball.

Facilities are fine although there wasn't a practice open on grass. Course condition also very enjoyable.

Not much atmosphere in the clubhouse, which was just about empty in contraction to the people out on the course. Prices for the beers were too expensive for my taste.

In the Göteborg area I'm sure it's Vallda that competes with Hills for best golf course. In my opinion Hills has the edge, althouth it must be added that Vallda is much less priced and therefor offers better value for money.

Greens in fantastic condition for the season (late April). The majority of the golf course looks like a typical Scottish links although some nice down/uphill holes find their way in this very nice course.

Can be very challenging if windy conditions.

Practice installations are perfectly fine.
