Muscat Hills Golf & Country Club

De golfclub ligt in een golfresort. Veel huizen aan de fairway. Ontvangst was hartelijk, maar rommelig. Clubhuis wordt gerenoveerd waardoor van sfeer nauwelijks sprake is. Drivingrange ballen aanwezig, maar ook hier alles net niet. De lay-out van de baan is spannend en door vele hoogteverschillen uitdagend. Green waren hobbelig, soms met gaten. Jammer de green moet een spannende eerlijke afsluiting zijn. Je denkt dan op de green; doe ik daar alle moeite voor. Fairways zeer breed maar ook hier vele verschillende soorten gras. Teeboxen onverzorgd. Op de tee box van 16 sta je praktisch naast een stinkende vuilnisopslag. Het geheel maakt een zeer onverzorde indruk met overal bouwafval. Lay-out is positief te beoordelen.

Heel rommelige aankomst met wel heel vriendellijke caddiemasters. In clubhuis een heel chagrijnige mevrouw die alles te veel vindt. Overigens mini clubhuis, met rommelig oud terras. Baan behoorlijk goed voor de prijs, die vielen echt mee inOman. Water etc prima geregeld. Niet te. druk. Greens gezand, dat was jammer! Baan wel goede kwaliteit.

Muscat Hills, the first 18 hole championship golf course in Oman has a very good layout with some nice elevation changes and most of all very diverse holes where not one hole is similar to another. The course also offers very nice views of Al Hajar mountains and even the ocean can be seen from a few holes even though it is quite far from the coast. Par-5's are nothing spectacular if you ask me but the course makes it up with very nice par-3 holes and some great par-4 holes. I liked the stretch from 6th to 10th hole with great par-3 7th hole in between,15th is also great and challenging par-4 and so is the finishing par-4 18th. I don't really get the par-4 5th hole which I know it is stroke index 1 but nevertheless designing a 430 meters long par-4 which is playing into the wind and placing the bunker in front of the very tricky green doesn't really make much sense! So I would love to hear the designers (Paul Thomas) view on this hole... A bit of confusion with the signs on 4th tee box and direction of play as standing on the tee box you don't really have a clue where to aim exactly as you can not see the flag or any of the bunkers.

Course condition was very good, nice greens with pure roll. Pro-shop could be stocked better though as it is not up to the golf course standards. The staff was also nice.

The course is located west of new Muscat not far from the airport. As with many places in Muscat and some navigation apps (Sygic) the arrival can be quite challenging. A must play if you are in Muscat.

Ein Golfplatz mit vielen Schluchten, interessant zu spielen, für Anfänger allerdings eher schwer.

Viele Schluchten, interessanter Platz.
