There are not many places in the world like Powerscourt Golf Club, Only 30 minutes from Dublin airport, you feel like you have entered a different world. The two championship golf courses are situated among the truly magnificent Powerscourt Estate which is home to 1000 acres of what needs to be seen to be believed. Powerscourt is everything that symbolizes Ireland’s natural beauty. The East course was designed by the talented golfer and successful Walker cup captain Peter McEvoy who brilliantly follows the contours of this mature and historic landscape. It has hosted the 1998 Irish PGA which three time major winner Padraig Harrington won in a playoff. The East course also hosted the 2001 Irish Seniors Open The West course offers a completely different feel and test and brings David Mclay Kidd’s (Bandon Dunes in Oregan) experience and detail for a challenging, rewarding and highly enjoyable golf course to life. The beautiful scenery and the greens from the West course can be heard talked about in the clubhouse all evening long from our visitors who want a second chance at it. It is no wonder that we received the best overall parkland venue award 2014.

Mooie heuvelachtige baan waar je best een buggy huurt.
Onthaal was supervriendelijk. Aer Lingus was onze clubs kwijt geraakt (vreselijke ervaring en zeer slechte afterservice vanwege Aer Lingus). De dame van Powercourt golfclub bood ons gratis een stel vervang golfclubs aan alsook een buggy. Dat hebben we erg geapprecieerd.
Baan is heuvelachtig met weinig waterpartijen. Fairways zijn relatief breed en vergevingsgezind. Holes sluiten zeer goed bij elkaar aan. Mooi einde op de 18. Tip voor de bezoeker: op 200 meter ligt powerscourt distillery dat je op een uurtje kan bezoeken. Je krijgt een goede uitleg en inzage over het maken van goede whiskey. Ook interessant... misschien best na de golf (je kan er proeven).

Die beiden Meisterschaftsgolfplätze befinden sich inmitten des Powerscourt Estate, Der Ostplatz wurde von Peter McEvoy entworfen und der Westkurs wurde von David Mclay Kidd's (Bandon Dunes) gezeichnet und hat noch etwas mehr Überzeugt. Beide Plätze gehören wohl zu den schönsten Parkland Anlagen des Landes und überzeugen mit hohen Pflegezustand und ein paar schwieriger Par 3 Löcher. Aber wenn ich als Golftourist zwischen Parkland und Links wählen kann, so schlägt mein Herz doch mehr für die Küstenplätze die noch mehr Unterhaltung versprechen.
The two championship golf courses are located in the middle of the Powerscourt Estate, the east course was designed by Peter McEvoy and the west course was designed by David Mclay Kidd's (Bandon Dunes) and was even more convincing. Both courses are probably some of the most beautiful parkland courses in the country, with a high level of maintenance and a few difficult par 3 holes. But if I as a golf tourist can choose between parkland and links, my heart beats more for the coastal courses that promise even more entertainment.
