Je kan op een aantal manieren je starttijd op de 'Home of Golf' boeken. The Old Course kun je alleen spelen op uitnodiging van een lid of door mee te doen aan de traditionele loting. De andere golfbanen van St. Andrew Links kunnen online worden geboekt (via hun website). De 9-holes Balgove Course is de enige baan die niet vooraf kan worden gereserveerd; je kunt gewoon komen opdagen op de dag dat je wilt spelen.

The newest addition to St Andrews Links, The Castle Course opened in 2008 becoming the seventh course at the Home of Golf and part of the largest public golfing complex in Europe. Set on a rugged cliff-top with spectacular views over St Andrews, The Castle Course offers a memorable golfing experience.

Only slightly more forgiving than its contemporaries on the seaward side of the Links, the Eden Course was built in 1914 by Harry S. Colt whose use of natural boundaries and severe bunkers provides a course full of character.

Strathtyrum Course 6/7

Holes: 18

Designed to complement the tougher championship layouts at the Home of Golf, the Strathtyrum was opened in 1993. Although few in number (15), the bunkers are cunningly placed and there is considerable emphasis on iron play accuracy. The greens themselves are large and have slopes and borrows which can test even the most confident putters.

Il Castle Course of Saint Andrews è forse il meno famoso ma è quello con le pecore che ti guardano giocare, non è certo un campo "collinare" ma l'atmosfera è comunque magica con dei bunker con la scaletta per entrare ed uscire e quando sei dentro non vedi nulla (io sono alto 193 cm.) e un fescue dove trovare la palla è impossibile.

Il Castle si trova a pochi chilometri da St. Andrews e si sviluppa su un tratto di costa parecchio scoperto. Il vento quindi e' sempre presente e rende il campo particolarmente difficile se giocato in una giornata come quella scelta da noi. There are 3 ways to get a tee time for the Old Course : book 1 year in advance, enter the ballot or show up at ~03:00 at the booking office. We got lucky with the ballot :-) The tension on hole 1 was high. A starter, caddies, spectators, etc. No wonder the hole is called "Burn". Scoring a 4 set the tone for a great round. Geweldig om een keer te spelen. De fairways zijn hard maar goed en de greens zijn super om te spelen. Als je er bent moet je wel tegen de drukte kunnen en vlot doorspelen ivm de drukte. De greens zijn fair en soms zeer moeilijk te lezen.
