Golf courses in Paris

Paris as a golf destination combines what few other cities can offer: world-class culture on the doorstep and some of the finest parkland golf in Europe within half an hour. Le Golf National at Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines is the headline act — host of the 2018 Ryder Cup and widely regarded as one of the most demanding tournament venues in Europe. The Albatros Course, with its peninsula greens and water-lined fairways, is as spectacular in person as it looks on television. Golf de Morfontaine, an hour north of Paris in the Valois forest, is a more discreet proposition — a semi-private club with a course designed by Tom Simpson that experts regard as one of the finest parkland courses in the world. Golf de Fontainebleau, set in the famous royal forest south of Paris, offers a completely different character: a classic woodland course on sandy soil with a long history and a quiet, almost contemplative atmosphere. Paris is accessible from the Netherlands in about three and a half hours by Thalys or in around an hour by air. The courses are at their best from April to October. Combining a weekend in Paris with a round or two at Le Golf National or Fontainebleau is one of the most satisfying short breaks available to golfers from the Netherlands.
