Golf in Valencia

Valencia is situated on the banks of the Turia, on the east coast of Spain facing the Mediterranean Sea. Its historic centre is one of the largest in Spain. Valencia's port is the biggest on the Mediterranean western coast, but in the 90's the city transformed from an industrial city to a more vibrant city. Local landmarks were restored and new ones were built, like La Ciudad de las Artes y las Ciencias which is home to 7 huge and iconic buildings. Really worth a visit if you love architecture. When visiting Valencia for a golf trip, don't forget to visit Barrio del Carmen, discover the Mercado Central - the largest market for fresh products - and check out the nature of La Albufera, which is also the place where 'paella' was born. Valencia is great for a short golf trip. Valencia is home to 6 within a 20km radius of the city centre. The most famous Valencian golf course is Parador & Golf El Saler as it has hosted many important tournaments in the past. Parador & Golf El Saler was built in 1968 by Javier Arana and is located in the El Saler Natural Park, on the shore of the Mediterranean Sea. Club de Golf Escorpión is also highly rated but less known as it is a private golf club, but is now providing limited tee times to visiting golfers. The other 6 golf course that is worth a visit when visiting Valencia is El Bosque Golf Club. Valencia has a subtropical Mediterranean climate with short, very mild winters and long, hot and dry summers. Valencia has one of the mildest winters in Europe, due to its southern location on the Mediterranean Sea and the Foehn wind. To us Valencia is really worth a visit when planning a golf break. The city is nice, there are a few really good golf courses, some nice beaches and natural parks and Valencia is very accessible via its international airport (VLC), also known as Manises Airport.
