Lancashire lies in the North West of England. The Red Rose of Lancaster is the county flower of Lancashire, and a common symbol for the county. Liverpool and Manchester grew into its largest cities during the Industrial Revolution, with economies built around the docks and the cotton mills respectively.

Golf in Lancashire
Lancashire offers quite some great and renowned golf courses, like Royal Birkdale, Royal Lytham & St Annes Golf Club, Formby and Hillside Golf Club. The best Lancashire golf courses - mostly links courses - can be found along the 'Lancashire Golf Coast' from Blackpool in the North to just above Liverpool. Visiting Lancashire for golf is a great idea and can easily be combined with a city trip to Blackpool, Liverpool or Manchester. If you are into walking and cycling as well, then Lancashire provides two Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, including the majestic Pendle Hill, the world renowned for the tale of the Pendle Witches. The Forest of Bowland (AONB) is a beautiful landscape of remote fells, riverside rambles, stunning wildlife, heritage and a number of traditional Lancashire villages. Manchester Airport is the main airport in the region.

Taken the dry weather into consideration the green were in good condition, but the tee boxes were completely brown or worse. A couple of strangely designed holes, where local knowledge is essential - confusing logistics. Slow pace but I was unlucky to get a tee time behind 6 lady 4 balls - it took 5 1/2 hours.

Royal Lytham & St Annes Golf Club

A really good and lovely 9th hole (par 3) that makes the turn towards the clubhouse. Beautiful 18th hole tee shot with that lovely clubhouse in front of you. If possible experience sleeping at dormy house, just 20 yards away from first tee, and have brea…

I've played here a few times, twice in the British Open. In 2009 and this year in August. Two completely different experiences. This course is very weather dependent. for most of the front nine you have out of bounds to your right (don't arrive with a slice), very challenging start with a long Par 3 followed by 2 difficult Par 4s. The back nine is quite scorable until you…
