Het hele complex heeft last van ongewoelde grond door wilde zwijnen. Gelukkig slaan deze beesten alleen toe op de ongemaaide baangedeelten en laten kort gemaaide delen (t-boxen, fairways, greens) ongemoeid.
Er werd veel gemaaid, toch was de kwaliteit van de fairways niet goed. De bunkers waren zelfs slecht. Weliswaar had het 2 dagen eerder flink geregend maar dus tijd genoeg om ze te behandelen. Nu waren ze van beton. De baan speelde erg lang, de ballen kregen door de natte en slechte fairways geen enkele rol mee. Omdat de Trent Jones baan veel lange holes kent was het moeilijk de greens in regulation te spelen. Greens waren traag in vergelijking met de oefengreen.
Dame bij de receptie zeer vriendelijk en behulpzaam. Door het fenomeen dagkaart en de halve prijs met Golfhaftet een zeer goede prijs/kwaliteit. De Hurdzan baan is vrij open met mooie uitzichten op de bergen.
Fairways zijn breed, maar holes zijn niet saai. Mooie variatie in doglegs, bunkers en watertjes op strategische plaatsen. Itt de Tr.J. baan waren hier de fairways en bunkers wel goed. Alhoewel hier meer leden speelden dan de TJ. baan, was het ook hier betrekkelijk rustig en redelijk leeg op de baan.

The club is located north of Turin and has two 18 holes courses. Unfortunately I only had time to play one so I chose the RTJ course.

The courses are located in a big park where La Mandria an other 36 hole venue is also located so together with nearby Biela, Turin is a perfect weekend or 3 day golf trip.

The reception was very welcoming and the staff very friendly. I was a bit in a hurry and opted for a buggy but the course is perfectly walkable. The terrain is quite flat what I didn't expect so close to the mountains. The practice facilities where very nice with a grass driving range and accurate ranges to the targets.

The course it self has a good layout with a variety in holes quick greens and challenging shots. I have now played about a dozen RTJ sr. designes and what stands out are his use of very large bunkers and very penal approach shots. The greens are so well guarded that there is not much room for error. I can imagine for a scratch player this is fun but for an average bogey player like me it is sometimes frustrating. Although the fairways are pretty wide the occasional ball that does finds the rough is impossible to find.

I liked the way there are creeks used in the course (again mostly to guard the greens for too short shots) and the occasional lifted? Tees. The big trees really gives the course it's parkland feeling.

The maintenance was good there was a lot going on. The greens were quick and true and the T-bone steak in the restaurant was delicious. They have two places to eat, the bar for sandwiches and small bites and the restaurant with a very nice terrace for a proper meal. Der neuere Pramerica Course im Royal Park I Roveri trägt die Handschrift des Architekten Michael Hurdzan-Fry, anerkannter Referent zum Thema Umweltverträglichkeit im Golf. Er wurde mehrfach ausgezeichnet und hat hier seinen ersten Golfplatz in Europa gebaut.
Im aristokratischen Clubhaus gab es viele Jahre nur einen Namen für den einheimischen Clubmeister nähmlich \"Molinari\". British Open Champion Francesco \"Chicco\" Molinari und sein Bruder Eduardo Molinari sind die Grossen Aushängeschilder des italienischen Golfports.
Es ist zu empfehlen beide Plätze (Wald & Parkland) zu spielen, denn Sie gehören in Italien wohl zu den Top 5 Plätzen des Landes. Die Plätze sind für alle Spielstärken geeignet und gut zu Fuss zu bewältigen.

Green ben difesi da bunker dotati di un ottimo strato di sabbia che ne facilita l'uscita, bunker che si trovano anche sistemati in punti focali lungo lo svolgimento del gioco. Belli i laghi, alcuni ampi, che, tranne qualche rara eccezione, non inficiano direttamente l'esecuzione dei colpi. Manutenzione degna di un royal park, spogliatoi eccellenti, personale gentilissimo, ampio parcheggio, club house aristocratica, amplificano il blasone di questo circolo. The club has hosted 4 Italien Opens in the past and the tournament was always played at the Robert Trent Jones course.

Once we arrived at the golf club, it took us a while to get the greenfees and everything sorted. The lady at the reception didn't speak any English and it didn't help that we showed her the golfhaftet card from Leadingcourses. Some phone calls and a few minutes later everything was sorted out and we were asked to pay 45 Euros per person. Considering that the greenfee is usually 160 Euros on weekends, we were quite pleased with the deal.

We decided to give us a true Championship golf test and played the Robert Trent Jones course. The course is over 6200 meters long from the Yellow tees so driver is in play more often than not. The fairways offer plenty of width, but straying the ball too much means a lost ball in most cases. The rough is quite high. A common theme is also that lots of greens are protected by well placed bunkers and some sort of water hazard.

The course starts with a mid length dogleg right par 4 of 342 meters. If you decide to use your driver, you will need to challenge some bunkers on the right side of the dogleg. The green is then protected by a small burn and a cool bunker in the front and additionally two bunkers right and in the back. Not an easy start and you will certainly get an idea what you can expect on the following holes.

My favourite hole on the front nine is the long par 4 3rd hole. It's probably also the signature hole of the course. At 393 meters you really need two good strokes to reach the green. The hole plays as a benign dogleg right and a fade from the tee is ideal. The green is built nicely into a hill and there is a creek crossing the hole about 50 meters short of the green. A challenging but also a nice golf hole.

On the back nine the par 3 12th hole is the one I remember the most. The hole plays 160 meters long and looks rather bland from the tee box. Only when you walk closer you will see how small the green really is and how dangerously the creek is guarding the green.

Overall Royal Park I Roveri is a stern test and probably Italy's finest Championship golf course. And who doesn't enjoy to be challenged fully every once in a while? De oude 18 holes zijn ontworpen door Robert Trent Jones. Hij heeft banen ontworpen in tweeënveertig Amerikaanse staten en achtentwintig landen. Jones is van mening dat elke hole \"een moeilijke par, maar een gemakkelijke bogey\" moet zijn. Dat is op Roveri golf ook duidelijk gelukt.

De nieuwe 18 holes, Golfbaan Pramerica by Hurdzan-Fry uit 2006 zijn ontworpen door het duo Michael Hurdzan en Dana Fry. In 2014 werd de Pramerica verkozen tot de beste nieuwe baan door \"The World of Golf\", Golf Digest en GolfWorld.
Dat deze 18 holes nog niet erg oud zijn, is duidelijk te zien. De baan heeft een open karakter en meer ruimte.
Beide banen behoren echter tot de top van Italië en terecht.

At that point I think this club was the second highest rated one in Italy, so I had my expectations set pretty high. In terms of the facilities, the clubhouse etc, it is quite nice, nothing mind blowing, but a nice older renovated building with a good terrace and friendly staff, better than the adjacent Circolo Golf but not as nice as the one at Castelconturbia. The locker rooms were well maintained and clean.

The course itself is, if I am not mistaken, the first one that Robert Trent Sr. made in Italy and it is quite nice with some of his characteristic features. Moderately difficult due to the vegetation that does come quite close to the fairway at some points and due to the mean positioning of the bunkers on some holes. I had a lot of fun playing it, but somehow, it did not speak to me. Since it's a mater of personal taste, I would not like to discourage you from playing the course, make no mistake, it is very nice and interesting to play, I would just select another one if I would be in the area again.

Che dire…. un campo meraviglioso. Probabilmente nel suo genere (Parkland) il più bello d'Italia.
