My beloved Blue Canyon where I play a lot of my Golf (I’m a member). 2 great layouts! The Canyon which is the championship course is the tougher of the two courses, tighter from the tee, greens harder to find and putting services generally trickier to read.

The Lakes however is a lovely Golf course and suits golfers of all standards, there is however, a lot of water to play over and around.

Sadly there has been some management issues at the Golf club which (to cut a long story very short) has resulted in a decline in the condition of these stunning Golf courses. The Lakes course is still in decent condition all round but the Canyon course is really in quite poor shape - with the exception of the fairways.

That said, if you are in Phuket and can get on at a reasonable rate I still recommend playing at least one of the course, if not both. Both courses are stunning visually and if they were in better condition they’d be scoring close to a 9 for my money.

I will write another review if and when the management gets it act together and things start to improve.

Blue Canyon Country Club gilt immer noch als einer der renommiertesten Golfclubs in Asien, auch wenn der Lack etwas ab ist. 2 schwierige Meisterschaftsplätzen welche sich durch Gummiplantagen und Zinnminen schlängeln. Ein ehemaliger Privatplatz der früher nur mit Clubmitglieder gespielt werden konnte. Das Clubhaus tront majestätisch über der Anlage und ist mit allem ausgestattet. Caddys sind obligatorisch aber auch sehr hilfreich. Die ganze Anlage strahlt Geschichte aus, war der Canyon Course doch schon zweimal Austragungsort der Johnnie Walker Classic mit den grössten Spieler der Gegenwart inklusive Tiger Woods und Ernie Els.

Blue Canyon Country Club is still considered to be one of the most renowned golf clubs in Asia, even if the paintwork is a bit worn out. 2 difficult championship courses which meander through rubber plantations and tin mines. A former private course that could only be played with club members in the past. The clubhouse tront majestically above the course and is equipped with everything. Caddies are obligatory but also very helpful. The whole course radiates history, as the Canyon Course has already been the venue of the Johnnie Walker Classic twice, with the greatest players of the present including Tiger Woods and Ernie Els.

Canyon course is overrated. Difficult first 3 holes, several long holes against the wind, trees in the middle, etc. Vicious design.

Most greens are tilted : whole surface has moved toward the water or bottom. There is literally no flat surface to place a flag on many of them. Uneven speeds.

Great 17th par3 indeed but you only understand why after you play it : go and drive up to the green first! It is a good general idea btw.

Lake course is more fun and interesting. You must curve the ball and play a lot of trick shots. Better greens, faster than Canyon. Too many tall trees in the middle of the fairways to my taste.

With all the history The Canyon course has with professional golfers such as Tiger Jack Norman Els Goosen and several others I was really excited to play this course. The layout is spectacular and it's easy to tell it was a tournament course at one time and much more challenging than the Lakes course.

Some of the holes are very tricky (e.g. hole 13 on which Tiger drove the green with a 3 iron from 390 yards over the Canyon).

The condition was generally good despite recent rain although a little muddy in a few low lying areas..

Caddys and buggys are compulsory and it is pot luck whether you get an enthusastic and knowledgable caddy. Good ones are well worth it but a poor one who doesn't speak English can ruin your round. The clubs were excellent if a little pricey.

I chose Blue Canyon because it was closest and it didn't disappoint.
