Golf De La Martinique
About Golf De La Martinique
The golf course of Martinique is a par 71 built on 63 hectares and offers golf enthusiasts, experienced or beginners, a wide range of challenges between sea, hill, palms, arms of river and luxuriant vegetation. Designed by Trent Jones in 1976, the course at Golf de la Martinique is both superb and difficult. Although the landscape makes this course exceptional, it must also be said that the architect did a very good job exploiting the surrounding natural elements. The first 9 holes are made on the plain side with a gentle back wind. The 9 holes of return the level of difficulty is of the most interesting because this is where things harden. A superb view is offered on the tee from hole 12 where you will have the idea of being a bird. The seaside, from hole 14 to 16, also has great views. Moreover, the difficulty of the course increases. So you have to pass over inlets to reach the green of hole 15 and the fairway for hole 16. Hole 17 is a small par 3 that seems very easy but turns out to be a fairly complex hole due to the prevailing lateral wind.

Robert Trent Jones designed. Great layout. State owned but no investment. Greens and bunkers appalling but, given that, great VFM at €22.50 for 18 holes. Friendly reception and lovely colonial clubhouse.
