Club de Golf Terramar

Campo ubicado cerca de Barcelona en Sitges al lado del mar. Se han jugado diferentes pruebas del calendario Europeo de mens y ladies. Diseño con pocos desniveles y muy agradable de temperatura.

Campo situado junto al mar, con unas vistas estupendas, calles anchas sin demasiada dificultad.

Mooi gelegen goed onderhouden baan. Wat te hoog aan de prijs.

Less than an hour drive from the centre of Barcelona you will find Golf Club Terramar. Laid out by the Mediterranean sea in the suburbs of coastal town Stiges.  

Terramar is a parkland layout which is completely flat with an exception of holes 5 to 8. The course is very enjoyable for every skill level so if you are looking for something not to test your game and nerves too much, this is it. But don't get me wrong as you will still need to hit your approach shots close to the pin if you want to walk off with a par as I found the greens to be quite tricky.

The holes I liked the most are Par-3 3rd hole where you are hitting your tee shot directly towards the sea, Par-4 6th hole - uphill dogleg left. 8th hole which is a slight dogleg left and downhill Par-4 where a good drive over the left corner will get you inside 100m of the very nice but tricky green. All Par-3's are quite challenging due to their length as there is always at least a mid to long iron into the green.

Be careful on 11th hole Par-4 not to miss it right of the trees as the water hazard cuts in all the way to the tree line and the path and it is not visible from the tees.

Some well known golf course designers like Tom Simpson and Jim Fazio are signed under this project though so it should be very promising in general though what I really don't like or understand is the routing of some holes and some missing "Next Tee" markers so I sort of wondered in the unknown a couple of times as the holes are so illogically positioned - mainly holes number 11 and 14. I hope that will change next year as I there are a few new holes being built in that part of the golf course. Instead of having an abandoned villa in the middle of the property they could as well renovate it into a small hotel or apartment building.  

Course was in good condition, fairways were nice but not so dense as they should be while the rough which is not very high otherwise can be quite intriguing so sometimes it was hard to find a ball even if it was only 2-3 meters from the fairway. Most tee boxes were just reseeded so I guess they will be in good playing condition soon. I also noticed quite significant difference between some bunkers which I don't find very positive - some were okay while others were way too hard. Greens were okay with good speed but the players here obviously don't give too much attention to pitch marks.  There was also quite some damage done by hogs on some holes very close to the greens so they should definitely do something to solve this problem.  

Lovely clubhouse with nice terrace overlooking the 18th green and the Mediterranean. All facilities in general are very good, they even have a nice pitch and pit course on the property.  

BIG DISLIKE: Charging 2 € for a bath towel is a bit Ryanair alike business model which I can not accept as very friendly towards the visiting guests.  .
