Alwoodley is recognised as one of Britain’s finest inland courses. It was designed by Alister MacKenzie, the famous golf course architect. He left a legacy of classic golf courses – Alwoodley was the first. Established in 1907, the MacKenzie-designed layout remains today, though lengthened to 6,900 yards. A natural heathland course, springy fairways cut through a profusion of heather, whins and shrubs.

Alwoodley Golf Club is undoubtedly one of Great Britain & Ireland’s leading lights when it comes to inland golf.
Very few courses can surpass the debut work of Dr. Alister MacKenzie as a golf course architect in terms of quality, playability, strategy and ultimately as a true test of golf.
As at most top courses the ground game is still very much alive and kicking at Alwoodley and thus the art of shotmaking is too.
The sophisticated golfer, who can make the right decision and also execute the correct shot, will prosper here at this fair but challenging venue.
