In my humble opinion one of the best golf courses in The Netherlands. And a lot of other golfers on Leadingcourses agree with me as this course and club have been nr 1 in The Netherlands for many years in a row.

The course itself is lovely, a real links course with wind in play almost on every hole. The rough is not very killing and you will be able to find your ball even if you miss the fairway. We started with quite some rain, but after half an hour the weather started to improve. The course has a nice build up. It starts relatively flat and open, but after hole 13 it starts to get serious. The holes after hole 12 are just really great and spectacular. The other holes are really enjoyable, but when you are playing a match (like we did), it really starts after hole 13. Good to see that De Haagsche is not leaning back on its reputation and great surroundings. They have made an extensive plan - improving 6 holes in a row - and then moving on to the next six. Paths are widened, irrigation for these paths is added (idea is to have many grass paths), the course is opened up by removing trees and vegetation, bunkers are changed and much more. They are trying to honor the Colt design, using odd number of bunkers around the green and using the bunkers to remove the water from the green which sometimes poses them for quite some issues as the climate is getting more extreme. I really liked the bunkers and the amount of sand in them. Very predictable and still fluffy after quite some rain. Big compliment for that. I like the vision that when you are on the tee, you should not be able to see the paths.

We all know that their practice facilities are not the best, but they are planning to change that by moving the parking to another area.

All in all I had a great day. If you never played here, then you should. They do not allow a lot of green fee players, just enough not to disturb their members. Good food as well. Keep up the good work!

Lang lang geleden dat ik op de Haagsche mocht spelen en in mijn herinnering was de baan mooi, maar niet per se de beste van het land. Besef me nu dat dat oordeel mede het gevolg was van mijn spelniveau van destijds: als je net olvarit kan eten kan je de Librije ook niet goed op waarde schatten. Van de eerste tot de laatste hole een geweldige golftest met de ene na de andere sterke hole en een geweldige slotreeks die al op hole 13 begint. Stijgt flink in mijn achting en oordeel en met excuses voor mijn vroegere bescheiden oordeel.
