The Els Club Dubai

Geweldige golfbaan. Speelde hier voor het eerst in 2008, het jaar van de opening... Geweldig onthaal en serivce. De baan was minder goed onderhouden dan gewoonlijk. Dubai had in de weken voor mijn bezoek veel last van wateroverlast. Hierdoor waren alle bunkers en wasteland ontzettend slecht, en de greens leken op beton. Voor iemand die ballen met veel spin slaat is het verrassend dat je zelfs korte approaches niet op de dansvloer kan houden... Na hierover een opmerking gemaakt te hebben, kreeg ik laten een persoonlijke excuses e-mail van de directie. Volgende keer bij "The Els" wordt het weer een feestje!

The Els golfclub in Dubai is a nice desert course in Dubai. It start already with a huge clubhouse where everything is available. From a nice terrace, good restaurant to perfect locker rooms and polite staff. All your questions will be answered and solved. The practice facilities are well maintained and large, especially your short game is more than sufficient and recommended to use so go at least 1 1/2 hour before your starting time.

The course, which looks like an inland links course with wide fairways, itself is long but donot play the back tees which is too long for the average golfer.

You really have the views of playing in the desert with huge sandy areas, Also the many well maintained bunkers are sometimes not easy to come out. The mostly elevated greens are fast, and therefore practicing before your start is a must for a decent score. Because of the elevated greens your short game is essential to stay on the green with your pitch and not roll of the back. Most of the par 4's are challenging and especial in this time of the year very nice to play the course.

Return to a nice clubhouse for some drinks or snacks and enjoying the views of a day well spend.

Wunderschöner Golfplatz. Keine Mängel am Platzzustand. Trotz hoher Temperaturen super Fairways und Greens. Lange schwere Par 4 Löcher. Sicher einer der schwersten Plätze in Dubai.

Der Els Club in Dubai Sports City wurde von dem dreifachen Major Champion Ernie Els entworfen und 2008 eröffnet. Mit einer Länge vom 7530 Yards und mit 81 wunderschön geformten Bunkern und schön ondulierten Grüns, ist er ein Test für ambitionierte Golfer und gleichzeitig eine faire Herausforderung für den Durchschnittsspieler. Immer noch einer meiner Lieblinsplätze in Dubai, obwohl die Fairways an den Seiten mit hunderten von Ferienwohnungen dekoriert sind, was den optischen Gesamteindruck etwas trübt. Am Ende der Runde gab's eine Plakette mit eingraviertem Namen für den Golfbag. Ein tolles Geschenk, wohl um die in Dubai allgemein überteuerten Greenfee Preise erträglicher zu machen, das hat funktioniert.

Es ist auch eine hochmoderne "Butch Harmon School of Golf" mit Video- und 3D-Analyse vorhanden. In der Winterzeit ist es keine Seltenheit den Golf Trainingsguru und einige bekannte Golfprofessionals bei der Arbeit im "Büro" zuschauen zu können.

The Els Club in Dubai Sports City was designed by triple major champion Ernie Els and opened in 2008. With a length of 7530 yards and 81 beautifully shaped bunkers and beautifully undulating greens, it is a test for ambitious golfers and at the same time a fair challenge for the average player. Still one of my favourite courses in Dubai, although the fairways on the sides are decorated with hundreds of holiday apartments, which clouds the overall visual impression. At the end of the round there was a plaque with an engraved name for the golf bag. A great gift, probably to make the generally overpriced greenfee prices in Dubai more bearable, that worked.

There is also a state-of-the-art "Butch Harmon School of Golf" with video and 3D analysis. In winter it is not uncommon to see the golf training guru and some well-known golf professionals working in the "office".
