Pyle & Kenfig Golf Club

A course of 2 halves. The back 9 is out of this world and in summer like playing on the surface of the moon (but with gravity). Plays through an area of outstanding natural beauty with predominance of ferns. Tricky to know where to aim some tee shots so better to play here for the first time with a member. 12th is a standout hole that dog legs left. As pure as golf gets and feels like very links like on back 9 where all the contours have been perfectly utilised. Practice limited - there is a green across the road. Simple club house and bar. One for the purists and a good double up with Royal Porthcawl just up the road.

The Pyle & Kenfig neighbours onto Royal Porthcawl but differs so many ways. The inland location makes it a heathland course versus a true links even though you do get glimpses of the ocean. As well there are some trees here but most of the danger lies in the gorse and the 88 deep-faced bunkers.

This layout has a Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde split personality. The first 10 holes and their finishing hole are soft mannered and honestly not too memorable whereas 11 through 17 are exciting and maybe one of the finest stretches of holes you will find anywhere.

The front nine is more open with gentle elevation changes and mounded dunes. Across the street the back nine has more of a dramatic topography with tight fairways and amphitheatre greens.

There are a number of signature holes on the back nine but my favourite was their 13th, a severe dogleg right with a pin that is tucked behind a mound.

I only wish that one day they will buy up more land across the road and build another nine holes towards the ocean.

Mooie golfbaan, links style aan de kust. Kwam genoeg wandelaars op weg of van het strand tegen om te zwemmen met dit mooie weer.

De baan kent twee negens waarvan de tweede negen net iets groener, net wat lieflijker en uitdagender is.

De eerste negen spelen wel wat makkelijker.

Gespeeld na een periode zonde regen dus baan was hard, droog en geel (iets groener op teeede negen) en de bal stuiterde ver door. De par 5 negende was in twee haalbaar en dat is het uitzinderlijk voor mij.

Clubhuis ademt de sfeer van gebakken bacon en bier. Met name de Spike bar met alle borden van wedstrijden en een foto van Mcilroy uit 2006 heeft wel sfeer.

Reserveer trolleys en buggies op tijd want er zijn er maar een zeer beperkt aantal.

prachtige linkscourse in een gebied vol linksbanen. de tweede 9 is mooier dan de eerste 9 maar je buffer spelen op beide lussen is een uitdaging.

Golf course in A1 condition. Looking forward to the Amateur Championship coming to P&K in 2016. A true golfing destination for anyone coming to South Wales. Locker rooms have been refurbished and look stunning.
