This 6,400 metre, par 72 golf course is located at Gulf Harbour on the Whangaparaoa Peninsula, just north of Auckland. Super Platz, viel Abwechslung. Frontnine ziemlich flach, bei den backnine geht es recht massiv rauf und runter. Schnelle und gute Greens, gut gepflegte Teeboxen und Fairways. Einzig die Einrichtungem Clubhaus (Garderoben, Toilette) lassen zu wünschen übrig. Zusammengefasst: Toller Platz mit wunderbarer Aussicht auf das Meer und Auckland.

I can understand why this course hosted the NZ Open years ago. The course design is great, but it was a disappointing visit for me.
It is a challenging course, where good shots into the fairway can still end up in very bad positions (and the other way around).
I like the holes with sea views and space, I did not like the holes crammed into the course with houses around the course as much. So Back 9 is my favourite.
But what was really disappointing was the state of the place. Most bunkers were GUR when I played and you could see an overall lack of quality in the maintenance (clearly a money issue). Not the standards of a Top golf course.
The clubhouse lacks character (bland architecture) and atmosphere.
This place needs some serious TLC (and money) if it doesn't want to become a faded glory.
But the course architecture is definitely top.

Ich kann verstehen, warum auf diesem Kurs 1998 der World Cup of Golf mit Stars wie Faldo, Daly & Co durchgeführt wurde. Später wurde auch öfter mals das NZ Open veranstaltet. Allerding ist der Glanz der besten Zeiten vorüber. Es ist zwar immer noch ein herausfordernder Kurs mit sehr schöner Design von Meister Robert Trend Jones senior, aber Platzpflege oder auch Restaurant entsprechen diesem Niveau nicht mehr.
Die ersten neun Löcher führen um Häuser und einen See und sind etwas weniger Attraktiv. Die zweiten neuen Löcher entschädigen mit vielen erhöhten Ausblicken aufs Meer, wunderschöne Buchten und teiweise Ausblick bis nach Auckland. Ein Golfcart ist zu empfehlen.

Gedeeltelijk naast de zee en de plezierboothaven.
Zeer chic voor NZ normen... rijkemansclub van Auckland.
Goede conditie van de baan, fairway goed omzoomd met duinenstruiken.
Grote binnenvijver geeft extra cachet aan 6 en 7 hole.
